Copil back in form and had a very good run here in 2016. Wrong fav imo
  • Luca Vanni (ITA) d. Botic Van de Zandschulp (NED) 7-6(6) 4-6 6-4

Vanni is slowly but surely coming back at a decent level since his knee surgery earlier this year. He's 17-6 on carpet with a +41,4% ROI, winning Brescia & Andria back in 2016's end of season. His good serve can be a weapon in Ismaning which is one of the fastest Challenger on Tour.
  • Thiago Monteiro (BRA) d. Victor Estrella (DOM) 6-2 6-2

Last tournament of his career, at home with a noisy crowd... he already won this tournament (2017), has 7- 2 record with +83,7% ROI, and just turned down a 0-4 h2h against Arevalo in R1. Monteiro lost 6-0 6-1 to Nagal in Buenos Aires, then lost against Hamou in Campinas. So confidence will be low and he might struggle to adapt the conditions (green clay, heavy weather) where he lost in R1 last year to Jose Hernandez-Fernandez.
  • Daniil Medvedev (RUS) d. Vasek Pospisil (CAN) 7-6(7) 7-5
    at Shanghai Masters 1000 (CHN)
    Hard Court, Round of 16
    549 (7227) Aces +$239 ROI:+4.0% 41%

Pospisil is back at his top level. His very good record here (+96,4% ROI) shows he enjoys the fast conditions, and his serve works amazingly well this week. He lost 3 points behind his first serve against Sousa, 0 against Schwartzman who's one of the best returner on Tour.
Medvedev is in god mode but I think Pospisil will cover this cut. Another option is "over 0.5 tie-break played in match" which is quite probable.
  • Stefano Travaglia (ITA) d. Roberto Marcora (ITA) 7-6(5) 4-6 6-2
    at Mouilleron-Le-Captif Ch (FRA)
    Indoor Hard, Round of 32
    549 (7227) Aces +$239 ROI:+4.0% 41%

I tipped Benchetrit against him but didn't realise Marcora had some great results indoor this year (runner-up in Bergamo & Budapest). I have to change sides as I think he's more motivated for this end of season than Travaglia who is ensured to play the AO.
