Rogers Cup is as packed as ever, and with so many storylines still to be written, let’s take a quick tour around both tournaments before the MD kicks off on Monday

ATP Montreal

Roger Federer decided to skip the event in order to prepare better for Cincinnati and of course the last Grand Slam of the year, The US Open. He played final last year in Toronto, where the Rogers Cup was held, so 600 points are already taken off his account. It doesn’t matter much though, as he has the 2nd place pretty much secured.

The Women’s Us Open Series kicks off this week while the Men will have an ATP 500 in Washington where a lot of the big boys will be battling it out for the title.

WTA Stanford

Last year’s winner and No.1 in the world Serena Williams withdrew because of an elbow problem while Caroline Wozniacki took a WC and is the top seed and playing for the first time in this competition.
The Premier event which kicks off the US Open series campaign for the Ladies has always had a stellar lineup, and this year is no different. The 28 player Draw has the top 8 seeds all

Defending Champion and top seed of the event is John Isner.

The American didn’t have much success playing outside of the US this year with lot of up and down results. The home soil advantage didn’t help him in his last match as well,losing in R1 to eventual champion Rajeev Ram in Newport on Grass.

ATP Bastad

Pablo Cuevas is the defending Champion here in the beautiful city of Bastad. He could potentially meet 1st seed David Goffin in the Semis. This will be the 1st time he takes the court since losing in the first hurdle in Wimbledon on his least favorite surface. Pablo has a good 11/4 record in clay court 250 tournaments this year with a title in Sao Paulo, which moved from outdoor to indoor clay due to the wet conditions there in February, and a final in Istanbul which he lost
