History…  This year will be the 93rd edition of The Western & Southern Open for the ladies.

Due to Covid restrictions last year’s competition was held in New York to prevent travelling and risk of spreading the disease.

Victoria Azarenka won the title last year after Naomi Osaka was forced to give a walkover in the final due to Left hamstring injury

History…  The Canadian Open is the second oldest tournament in the world behind only Wimbledon with 130 editions since it was found in 1881.

The event alternates the cities between Toronto and Montreal and with the women as well.

From 2021 in even-numbered years the men’s tournament is held in Montreal, while the women’s tournament is held in Toronto, and vice versa in odd-numbered years.

Rafael Nadal is the defending champion, as he won in both Toronto and Montreal in 2018 and 2019. With 5 titles here, he is behind only Ivan Lendl who still holds the record with 6.

History…  Prior to 2011 the Men and Women events of the Canada Open were held in separate weeks but since they are in the same with alternating cities each year without men and women falling into same place as a joint event

Since 2000, Serena Williams has won the vent 3 times, but hasn’t since 2013. Bianca Andreescu is the defending champion after a short final against Serena in which after 4 games the American was forced to retire because of upper back injury.

 

History…  The tournament has been held since July 1969 and is one of the most prestigious ‘500’ Tournament in the calendar. Used as a lead up to the US Open and part of the Us Open Series it has 48 player draw and usually attracts good amount of quality players in their Draws.

Andre Agassi is the leader in titles here with 5 and Del Potro (2008,2009) and most recently Alex Zverev (2017,2018) are the ones that were able to win in consecutive years in last 15 years.

Tournament didn’t take place in 2020 due to Covid, but in 2019 Nick Kyrgios won the title defeating Daniil Medvedev in 2

History…  The Swiss international championships is held in Gstaad since 1898 and the tournament is played at 1050m or 3450 feet above sea level which makes it the highest venue in Europe and only behind Ecuador and Colombia open who are both in Andes.

The tournament just like many others last year was not held in 2020 due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and 2 years ago Albert Ramos defeated Cedrik-Marcel Stebe to claim the title.
