11-April Update
We believe we are now through almost all of the technical issues on TI. Once again we thank our user community enormously for their patience, understanding and support. Here is the current state of play as we know it:
What happened
What initially appeared to be software related issues due to high server load, turned out to be a severe hardware failure. In spite of the storage back-up services that come with our host provider, we did lose some data. Obviously this is highly regrettable. Basically what we lost was all user posts and tips for the period from the end of January through midway through Miami.
What we did
TI has been migrated to a new server and pieced back together based on the content that was salvaged, along with other data back ups held offline.
Bonus membership time
We have recently granted a minimum of 2 weeks additional membership to all of our users. Obviously we can’t give you back the lost time during the Miami tournament, but we hope you will accept the extra membership time in the spirit in which it is intended.
Is TI 100% back to normal?
We believe we are 98% there. Due to the complexities of re-estblishing the site there may still be some minor issues we need to resolve (if you see anything – please post on the Admin thread). recover files cut from hard drive Currently we are fixing a few broken links and dealing with a couple of minor teething issues that resulted from moving to a new server so quickly.
Where to here for TI?
The recent outage has left us thinking deeply about TI. E.g. why do we run the site? what is our vision for TI? Suffice to say that out of this is likely to come some pretty profound change. We owe it to you to make TI the best possible site it can be, and not let ‘fear of change’ stop us from realising this vision. recover files on hard drive after format
Once more I take this opportunity to thank you all for your support as well as express my ongoing commitment to TI.
