| | 32 ranked and #4 seed Garrigues against 56 ranked and #8 Errani in what should be an interesting final in the Slovenia Open.
Garrigues has been terribly inconsistent playing a first round against Makarova, which she won easily but Makarova was terrible. She then faced Vakulenko where she struggled but still won 6-4 6-4. Then she faced up and comer but still far from good Bovina (224th in the world) and beat her 6-4 6-3, however playing far from well. In the semi-final she played German Goerges where Medina struggled mightily yet came out on top after Goerges crumbled perhaps mostly from nerves. Georges lost the match Medina did NOT win it! Medina did well on the big points and broke 4/5 times while Goerges could only manage 3/9, which in the end was the difference. Big warning flag on Medina's serve as almost every game went to 40-40 before Medina won. Score was 6-3 2-6 6-4 and Medina was very luck to escape. Medina played very weak and Goerges outplayed her opponent.
In contrast, Errani has been very impressive so far! Beating countrywoman Santangelo 6-2 6-4 where she was almost flawless, then coming across Kirilenko who was without chance losing service game after service game and being in trouble in basically everyone. Errani had some problems closing it out but still managed to win 6-1 7-5. Errani then took on rising star Wozniacki who had destroyed opponents to that point. but Errani outplayed her with a strong serve, great movement and keeping the ball in play. Errani is till a bit inexperienced while her counterpart is a veteran now albeit only five years older. But in Errani's newfound form I feel even odds are to go with the player in form and the better mover since their strokes are not overpowering. Not to be forgotten is that Errani has beaten Medina once before on similar surface so she knows she can beat her and the factor of intimidation and experience is therefore less. I think this will be close but Errani to come through! GL all!

| | Today it's the end of all fun on this tournament for Anabel, who is one of my "darlings". Sara Errani has showed a strong and stable form lately, both mentally and physically. If you look at yesterday's combats, one can clearly see that Sara is a snap better than Anabel Medina Garrigues.

| | Medina yesterday won only because the last game and set was gifted to her.
Errani won in a tight battle with few errors. If Errany plays like yesterday the odds like ~2 are very generous

| | Errani really looks in form with few errors and some stunning performances on the road to the final. Medina is a tough clay courter who had a good run, but played a lot of minutes out there yesterday. Errani has beaten her on hard last year in Bali and now she looks in much better shape than back then and I see her getting a hard court title after the clay one in Palermo a week ago. |

| | I was really impressed by the little Italian yesterday. She's super fit, makes few errors, and can beat the moonball queen AMG especially if she can draw AMG to the net with the odd dropshot. Garrigues only scraped through yesterday due to a nervous last set from the inexperienced German Julia Goerges. Errani seems fearless so should not break down in the same way. At least Errani mixes her shots up a bit so I hope she wins as AMG's style of tennis is awful to watch. |

| | Agree. Errani has had the more impressive run here defeating #1 and #3 while garrigues has not beat anyone impressive. She struggled last match. Errani has not dropped a set in the past 3 matches. |
