Ivo takes the first set without allowing so much as a break opportunity to Verdasco. Can't see any sort of comeback here especially after Fernando's last two service games. Ivo should close this one out in the 2nd.

As an amateur at this, can someone tell me the basics of the difference between surfaces, particularly in light on tonight/todays match between hard court and grass?

People need to know that this final might take place on indoor hard surface as it will rain today all day in Nottingham, and if they do play indoors it could give Verdasco a chance to win.

No reason not to back Karlovic to take the title here for the second year in a row. He's got the best serve in the world and has played sufficient on the return and tiebreaks. As I said before the Verdasco/Cilic matchup, Cilic had been inconsistent on his serve but that was masked by his weak opponents prior to their match. Ivo will not be gifting Verdasco points on his serve as Cilic did, and he was able to break Monfils twice. So a break of the Spaniard's serve is not out of the question. As with Monfils, this match has a good chance at seeing a tiebreak or two, and I will back Ivo in a tiebreak on grass against anyone currently ranked out of the top 10. Without hesitation I will back Karlovic to continue his reign at Nottingham.

Verdasco made me lots of cash last night, he has a chance to win, but Karlovic was just brillant against Monfils and served perfectly well. If Verdasco wins, it will be a tough win and the value will lie with Verdasco. I'm leaning towards Karlovic but with no real confidence.
Tip: ATP Players can have an uncanny liking (or disliking as the case may be) of certain tournaments. These sorts of factors are not directly built into the Insight Tennis Model and often help explain sudden reversals of form.
