Both unpredictable players and considered pretty much all-round as long as the surface is in question, but they both had more notable achievements on hard and clay courts then they did on grass. The last time they met Davydenko lost the third-set tiebreaker and we saw some great rallies with long and powerful groundstrokes by both men. Davydenoko, highly ranked, is considered as a favorite here surely, but im positive that against a man such as Tommy, you need a lot bigger serve than the one of Nikolay, to be considered as a big favorite in the match. The last three matchups on clay Tommy lost, were against Stepanek in Paris, Karlovic in Hamburg, and Roddick in Rome.
Karlovic and Roddick both defeated Tommy in a decisive third set tiebreaker which could have gone either way of course, but the huge server always has the advantage in a breaker. Tommy surprisingly had absolutely no chance against Stepanek in the French Open while getting annihilated with his serve and volley game. Nikolay on the other hand, will try outclassing Tommy with powerful groundstrokes aside, which i believe Tommy may cause him a lot of trouble if Davydenko doesnt give us his best! I say Tommy in 3

Look for davyd to noch up another win with his recent good form on clay, some ppl say that he doesnt derserve to be no.4 in the world but to me he deserves it with the way he plays and for his great form this year, and i dont really see anyone at the moment who could be there instead of him, roddick is just coming back and hasnt played that well this year, ferrer struggles against the big names and big tournaments, and blake and nalbandians form is very indiffernet and they struggle on differnt types of surfaces while davy is an allronder player and look for him to dominate robredo from the back of the court and look for him to come in to the net and finish off points with ease, and although on robredos prefered surface i dont see him beating te no.4 in the world so take davy and some well deserved short odds.

Davydenko may have been disappointed with his loss against Ljubicic in the French Open but the Russian has by and large dominated in his matches this week. Robredo has had a very good clay season which has included a win over Davydenko in Rome and the Spaniard has a 19-6 record for the year on the dirt but this is his first final. Both players move well but Davydenko is by far the more aggressive off the ground, while Robredo has a tendency to play a more passive game and wait for opponents to 'hang' themselves with errors. If Davydenko executes his game well this will be a straight sets win, if he is a little wayward Robredo could sneak a set. For me this is for the Russian to lose and I'll give Davydenko a confident vote.

I think Monaco was unlucky to bump into a man on a mission at the French going by the name of Robin Soderling. I really rate Monaco on this surface and provided he is in a confident mood then he can do some serious damage. In contrast to Monaco I really do not rate Robredo. He seems to me far too passive and gets by on pure determination and opponent error. In terms of pure clay court talent I think Monaco is head and shoulders above Robredo....I hope this is going to materialise in a Monaco victory today.

I'm not sure how legitimate the Fognini win over Canas actually was. Very strange scoring pattern from Canas indeed. Fognini "should" get trashed here.
Tip: ATP Players can have an uncanny liking (or disliking as the case may be) of certain tournaments. These sorts of factors are not directly built into the Insight Tennis Model and often help explain sudden reversals of form.
