Michael Llodra (FRA) d. Robin Soderling (SWE) 6-7(3) 6-3 7-6(4) at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Final <<
Very hard match to take a crack at given the odds. So i won't touch it. Llodra is a new player so far this year and is playing with unbridled confidence whilst Soderling a former world junior No1 is starting to fulfil some of that early promise. I see the game total here in Asia is flat 24.0 at 1.77 which begs the question why is Soderling so short. He certainly has defeated the better class opposition this tourney however LLodra has done nothing wrong and could be worth s small stake to at least cop a set.

Michael Llodra (FRA) d. Robin Soderling (SWE) 6-7(3) 6-3 7-6(4) at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Final <<
A real contrast of styles, serve-volleyer Llodra against predominant baseliner Soderling. Llodra has given an exhibition of how to serve effectively and close the net off this week , turning over Sluiter, Davydenko, Haase and Karlovic. Showing a top quality serve-volley game can be effective against a number of different styles. Soderling has been equally impressive against Baghdatis, Verdasco, Seppi and Simon. Soderling has the slightly heavier delivery but Llodra's is at least as effective, with the ability to take opponents very wide. Soderling has the bigger and more penetrating groundstrokes. Llodra will be looking to keep the points short, while Soderling will fancy his chances the longer a point takes to reach its conclusion. I can't see too many service breaks but Soderling is the more likely to make a break through and gets a narrow vote to take the title.

Michael Llodra (FRA) d. Ivo Karlovic (CRO) 7-5 7-6(4) at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Semi Final <<
Serve is going to dominate this match, with two of the best exponents of the serve-volley game going head to head. Llodra has been a revelation since concentrating his attentions on singles, although the Frenchman doesn't have great groundies I feel they are better than the ones Karlovic has and that may just tip the scales in his favour should the match evolve into breakers. Karlovic has a fantastic serve and is the most difficult player to break on tour but the big Croat is certainly vulnerable if forced into a rally. Llodra has won both previous meeting and the five sets played have produced three breakers. The value certainly lies with Llodra at odds of 2.5.

Robin Soderling (SWE) d. Gilles Simon (FRA) 6-2 6-1 at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Semi Final <<
Both players have shown their liking for indoor conditions and have each won three tournaments indoor. Soderlings have all come on carpet whereas Simons have been on indoor hardcourts. They met twice last year Simon taking the match on the indoor hardcourt of Marseille, while Soderling won the match on carpet in Zagreb. Soderling has the bigger serve and a little more sting in his groundstrokes. Simon has shown his ability to deal with big servers this week and is the superior mover. The Frenchman has a fair serve himself and is also capable of some good stroke play. A difficult match to predict.

Michael Llodra (FRA) d. Robin Haase (NED) 7-6(5) 7-6(5) at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Quarter Final <<
Llodra continued his impressive start to the year, registering win number twelve of the season. He needed two tiebreaks to get past Haase in a very close affair. The Frenchman has a classic serve-volley game and will meet the similar style of Karlovic in the semi. Haase played well and this loss does not diminish a good week for the Dutchman. Both players held serve throughout but Haase is improving at a decent rate and he should climb the rankings over the next year and it will be no surprise to see him inside the top 40-50 at years end. It would be interesting to know how far Llodra could have been up the rankings had he not decided to concentrate on doubles for the last few years, he has an excellent serve and is a first class volleyer. He doesn't have the strongest of games from the back of the court but will continue to cause problems for higher ranked players on the faster surfaces.

Ivo Karlovic (CRO) d. Mischa Zverev (GER) 6-3 6-1 at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Quarter Final <<
A comprehensive win for Karlovic as Zverev was largely ineffectual. The German failed to deal with lack of pace Karlovic gave him off the ground and was unable to generate pace for himself. Zverev is clearly happier when up against players who like to punch the ball through the court as opposed to those able to play with slice or floaty type shots. It was always going to be a tall order against the Karlovic serve but the Croat was dominant off the ground too, not often you say that!

Robin Soderling (SWE) d. Andreas Seppi (ITA) 6-3 6-2 at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Quarter Final <<
Seppi has been in hot form this week coming from behind to beat both Hewitt and Nadal. Soderling has a much better serve than either of those players and the Swedes flat groundstrokes make opponents hurry their replies and there is a fair chance Soderling will be the aggressor in this match. Seppi has a good all round game he has an effective serve and he has a little more variety in his groundstrokes than Soderling. The Italian continues to improve and is bringing an all court dimension to his game. Despite the lack of seeds at this stage of the tournament, the depth of the game in Europe has shone through.

Michael Llodra (FRA) d. Robin Haase (NED) 7-6(5) 7-6(5) at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Quarter Final <<
Haase has won both meetings against Llodra but they have both been tight, in fact four of the five sets they have played have been tiebreaks. Llodra's serve volley tactics have payed dividends this week and he was a good winner over Davydenko in the last round. Haase stunned Murray in round one and followed that up with a come from behind win over Berrer last time. The Dutchman likes to play an aggressive game and goes for his shots at every given opportunity. Both players have decent first serves but both have shown vulnerability behind their second deliveries. It could be the man with the best first serve percentage getting the better iof this tight encounter.

Ivo Karlovic (CRO) d. Mischa Zverev (GER) 6-3 6-1 at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Quarter Final <<
Zverev retired the last time the pair met so not much to read into that, the German youngster has had a good week here whatever happens. Karlovic is almost the complete opposite of Zverev's last opponent Ferrer. The Croat has arguably the best serve in the game and is a difficult player to gain any rythmn against with rallies at a minimum. Zverev is also a competent server and has a good all court game, he has more consistency in his groundstrokes than Karlovic but they may not be seen too often today.

Gilles Simon (FRA) d. Teimuraz Gabashvili (RUS) 6-3 6-2 at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Quarter Final <<
Gabashvili has been outstanding this week. In beating Ferrero and Mahut he served superbly and never lost one of his serves. But the biggest suprise was his amazing baseline play. He completely outclassed Ferrero in his own game and did it with great precision and power. And like bullet said, he didn't face any breakpoints against Mahut. But, this time a round there is a much bigger challenge in front of the young Russian. Simon is someone who can run all day, he's phisical abilities are amazing, and Gabashvili will have some problems beacuse I just don't think he has the continuity to play the kind of game Simon plays. The Frenchmen will drive him crazy with constant running and passive play and that will force Gabashvili in making to many mistakes.

Ivo Karlovic (CRO) d. Mischa Zverev (GER) 6-3 6-1 at Rotterdam ATP (NED) - Indoor Hard, Quarter Final <<
In the normal circumstances I would take Karlovic gladly against Zverev, but the Rotterdam tournament has been everything but normal. A quaterfinal won't feature any of the eight seeds so we can conclude that the field is wide open. Zverev beat Kohlschreiber and Ferrer in straight sets and that should mean a lot. He's serve is effective as is Karlovic's, but Zverev has developed very nice all round game. He moves pretty well and he knows how to play serve and volley, so in all aspects this is a duel of two very similar players, and there could be some tie-breaks involved.
