Rafael Nadal (ESP) vs Novak Djokovic (SRB) at Wimbledon GS (GBR) - Grass, Semi Final <<
What an opportunity for Nadal - running up against a completely exhausted Djokovic and then assuming he faces Roger in the final - an open stadium with the possibility of windy conditions which will help a lot with his heavy topspin shots and lack of reliance on his serve. And if he were to win the tournament - full credit as he has defeated numerous grass court specialists, held his poise through the rain and demonstrated his greatness at fighting and perpetually learning and improving. I tip my hat to Rafa!

Rafael Nadal (ESP) vs Novak Djokovic (SRB) at Wimbledon GS (GBR) - Grass, Semi Final <<
Djokovic has been troubled by back problems in his last two matches, hardly surprising as he has spent a mammoth 1005 minutes on court, which makes Nadal's 778 minutes look like childs play. You have to hand it to the Serb to be able to stay mentally strong in some gruelling tussles. Nadal hasn't had it easy either with two testing five set matches. Nadal's ability to break serve will be key in this match, he has converted 50% of the chances he's had and Djokovic will need to serve at his best in this match. There will be no surprise if this turns into another marathon encounter. Although Nadal leads the hd2hd 4-1, Djokovic has closed the gap on the two top ranked players, he has had a superb season to date and is going to be a force for some time to come.

Roger Federer (SUI) vs Richard Gasquet (FRA) at Wimbledon GS (GBR) - Grass, Semi Final <<
Federer will rightly be a short priced favourite to win this and comfortably holds Gasquet by a healthy 5-1 hd2hd record, two of those victories on grass. Gasquet did manage to take a set of Federer in Halle last year and that match would suggest this may not be as one sided as first appears. Federer won 113 points in that match to Gasquet's 110. Nobody plays the big points and key games better than Federer and Gasquet will need to find a way to put him under pressure (easier said than done). Gasquet has fired 45 Aces to Federers 41 in the championship, has broken serve 17 times to Federer's 18 and has spent 592 minutes on court to Federer's meagre 420. Gasquet has converted a healthy 59% of break point chances. I think Gasquet will be competitive and could even take a set but Federer won't let him off the hook if he gets in the position Roddick did in the quarters.

Richard Gasquet (FRA) vs Andy Roddick (USA) at Wimbledon GS (GBR) - Grass, Quarter Final <<
Another fantastic match with Gasquet coming through in a thriller, you wouldn't have given much for his chances at 2 sets and a break down and his body language suggested he wasn't up for the fight. Having broken Roddick for the first time half way through set 3, his demeanour was completely changed and he was chasing down balls he wasn't previously. I took the liberty of looking up Gasquets record of coming from behind and was horrified at the stats, of the 204 matches he had won prior to this match he had won just 21 from a set behind. Perhaps this victory is a defining moment in the Frenchman's career. Gasquet hit an impressive 93 winners in this match and just 29 ue's, Roddicks tally of 60 winners would have been enough in most circumstances but not today.

Novak Djokovic (SRB) vs Marcos Baghdatis (CYP) at Wimbledon GS (GBR) - Grass, Quarter Final <<
This was a true epic, and had absolutely everything. Baghdatis had 6 set points in the 2nd set but Djokovic showed his resillience to go 2 sets up. Baghdatis then showed he is not one of the players that rolls over when up against it, coming from a break down in both sets 3 and 4 to take it to a final set showdown. Djokovic showed the mental strength to put the dissappointments of those earlier sets behind him and come through 7-5 in the decider, this has to be the match of the championships so far. This match lasted 5 hours and both players had to resort to the trainer. Baghdatis for a shoulder injury and Djokovic again for his lower back (as in the previous match).

Roger Federer (SUI) vs Juan Carlos Ferrero (ESP) at Wimbledon GS (GBR) - Grass, Quarter Final <<
Federer continues his charge toward a record equaling five consecutive titles, but Ferrero gave him a mighty scare in the first two sets, but like the champion he is Federer stepped on the gas and left his rival in his wake for the loss of just 4 games in the last 2 sets. Ferrero can look back on this as his most succesful Wimbledon and as we all know it is a feat to get a set of Federer on this surface.

So you don't have a sense of humour, thats fine. My INSIGHTful comment is that although Gasquet has been impressive @ Wimbledon this year, he is yet to come up against a seeded player. Roddick is seeded third behind two of the best tennis players in the last 20 years (If not the best in Federer's case) which is no mean feat. I expect Roddick to power through with his big serve to make it 3-0 h2h

Quite right bullet although the odd bit of appropriate humour is most welcome - especially after a result like this where you either have to laugh or cry if you backed the Czech as I indeed did!

Nadal wrapped this match up in convincing style, breaking Berdych on 4 occasions. Berdych never came to terms with the very windy conditions and Nadal's slice serve was highly effective with the Spaniard serving at 77% on first serve to Berdychs poor 58%.
