Juan Carlos Ferrero (ESP) d. Alun Jones (AUS) 6-4 6-4 6-2 at Australian Open GS (AUS) - Hard Court, Round of 64 <<
Ferrero wasn't as impressive in this match as he was against Kiefer but then he probably didn't need to be. Jones created 9 break opportunities but could only take 1. Ferrero dominated in the main from the back of the court and looks likely to face his stiffest test so far, if or when he faces Nalbandian in the next round.

Juan Carlos Ferrero (ESP) d. Alun Jones (AUS) 6-4 6-4 6-2 at Australian Open GS (AUS) - Hard Court, Round of 64 <<
Ferrero was mighty impressive when beating Kiefer in straight sets, extremely strong off the ground it will need a career best performance by Jones to beat the Spaniard. Ferrero won this match up at this tournament back in 2001 in straight sets and a repeat of that scoreline is the most likley outcome.

Difficult to enthuse too much about this game, Jones tends to struggle at ATP level although he has done well at challenger level. Montanes is more at home on the dirt but this is probably the easiest opponent the Spaniard has had on this sort of surface for some time.

Rafael Nadal (ESP) d. Alun Jones (AUS) 7-5 3-6 6-4 6-1 at US Open GS (USA) - Hard Court, Round of 128 <<
Poor Alun Jones...is that enough said? Rafa's left arm injury would need to have debilitated to the point of exhaustion if the young Aussie is to stand a chance. His goal - get to a tie break in one set and hope to get that feeling of winning a set against one of the great players. Rafa's power, spin, serve, net play, all-court game is too solid. Also did I mention the speed? If he's fit, he'll make it to the final and get trounced by the Fed Express.
