| | Novak survived a scare in the opening round as he ran into a spirited lefty in Denis Gremelmayr who is slowly building a giant-killing reputation. The Serbian star came from a set down to finally get on top of the German and after the first set was completely in control of the baseline rallies but he needed to be because his serve wasn't as effective as we're used to seeing. He was a little impatient at times, and also unusually for him he had some trouble executing the ball down the line which is traditionally his favourite shot. Perhaps he needed that wake-up call though rather than strolling through to meet Nadal later on without much hard match fitness, but is unlikely to see much resistance from Lopez-Jaen here. The Spaniard frequents the challenger circuit on a regular basis, and needed 3 and a half hours to beat Canadian Frank Dancevic who is like a fish out of water on the clay and has not had much play lately. Miguel served OK, but got lots of value out of coming forward against Dancevic who is fairly flashy from the baseline...unfortunately for him, that tactic will not work against the groundstroke brilliance of Djokovic. The Serb will be warming up here and will thrash Lopez-Jaen in 3 sets but that is only showing a poor $1.11, so for value it may be worth taking the under 27 games on offer at Party Bets. |

| | Djokovic started slowly against an inspired Gremalmayr (definitely one to watch for the end of year clay events) before finally getting the better of the German southpaw. Lopez Jaen finally got to grips with big serving Canadian Dancevic in a competitive affair but this is up another few levels for the Spaniard and it wold be a major surprise if he can stand up to the Serbs quality and variation. |

| | I was going to say earlier I think they've got the wrong favourite here. A claycouter Jaen may be, but the few times I've seen him he has lost emphatically against anyone of main ATP standard. Dancevic is no great player but he serves well which should kept him in the match. I think there's enough else going on for me not to bet on this one but I would discourage anyone from being fooled that Jaen is some kind of force on clay. |

| | Dancevic has not played much ball this year and comes in with a 2-7 season record but managed to take dirtballer Hernandez to a deciding breaker on his last start in Casablanca. Lopez Jaen has had quite an arduous qualifying campaign spending over six hours on court. Neither player has made the first round here before and although Lopez Jaen plays the bulk of his matches on clay this will be only his second match on the main tour. Dancevic doesn't have a great clay pedigree but that latest match shows he could pose a threat in this match. |

| | Almagro is one of the best fighters on tour, especially on clay, I would still favour him. He's having a lot of trouble getting his serves in though. That will probably straighten out later in the match because he is usually quite solid. |
