| | Gil overcame Armando who defeated Moodie in his last round. Chardy comes into this match as favorite (on clay?) but on a faster surface I give Gil the thumbs up as he has shown his tenacity in the qualifying rounds. |

| | The Markets for Chardy started at 1.58 at the TAB here, and just as I was multi-betting and doing my research in 10 minutes, it went from 1.58 to 1.38. LOL. I got on straight away before it gets even lower |

| | Despite Gil's clay background he has a fair 5-1 grass record. Chardy won the junior title here back in 2005 and was a fairly comfortable winner against Gil at the French last month in straight sets. Chardy's big serve and go forward style is ideally suite to this surface and he should have little difficulty repeating the win over the more defensive Gil. |

| | Big Jeremy Chardy rose to prominence at the recent French Open where he took out some quality players in Nalbandian and Tursunov and was only just beaten by Almagro in a match he had numerous chances. His first round win was a victory over this very man Frederico Gil, a claycourt lover from Portugal who has made a living on the high-bouncing slow courts of Europe. When the pair met, the Frenchman served down 9 aces and won a staggering 83% behind his first ball, a stat likely to be increased here given the quick and skiddy nature of a grass surface. Chardy can be erratic with his groundstrokes at times, and in his only grass lead up in 2008 did lose to a 1004th ranked Scott Lipsky which could be some cause for concern. But he has shown he enjoys the big stage, and will need to put it all together given Gil's performances in qualifying that included wins over big-serving Meffert and the in-form American Hugo Armando. Gil's only chance at victory here would be if Chardy's percentages on the delivery are slightly down, and if he plays lots of deep balls to the Frenchman's backhand to enduce some errors. He has no net game however, and this could prove a major downfall as grass is simply not a "rallying" surface. I'm pretty confident that Chardy will get through, but don't be surprised if it takes him longer than 3 sets. |

| | Price is actually 1.5 and not 1.37 as I stated earlier as the markets first opened too and will attract plenty of my money. |
