| | Zabaleta has won just one of the ten sets he has contested this year and that was a breaker, he has failed to put any sequence of results together since last April and given his talent that has to be a motivational thing. Hernandez squandered a two break advantage in the deciding set against Moya last week and that might take a bit of getting over for the Spaniard. Although Zabaleta leads the hd2hd 2-1 he is a difficult player to trust at the moment and this match has limited betting appeal. |

| | Hernandez is in his element in the claycourt season, and after a disappointing loss to Brzezicki in Chile he rebounded in Brazil to oust Cuevas and Roitman before squandering a 3rd set break in hand against Moya in the quarters. He is an extremely solid player with very few weaknesses, but the fact he relies so heavily on defense and just getting the blal back into play makes him vulnerable when his opponent makes him take the point by the scruff. Zabaleta has loads of experience especially on clay, and he will be the aggressor in this match. He'll need to mix up the pace, the angles and the loop against Hernandez to put him out of his comfort zone. The Argentine won their first two meetings before Hernandez proved a change in the times with a win 12 months ago in two tight sets. Zabaleta has not won a match (lost 6 in a row) since beating Almagro in Sopot in July 07, but has played relatively well in this tournament and has an edge in the serving department. With the home crowd behind him, the veteran is well worth a stab at enticing odds of over $3. |

| | One of the few matches i considerate is to give Zabaleta a try. I hope he is fully fit cause the high odds for him a little dodgy. His performance at the AO was not that bad as the result vs. Luczak shows and he should be motivated not to fail here in the first match. Its hard to say but the best matches i ve seen from Hartfield were on faster tracks and a Zabaleta should have much more in the arsenal on clay than Diego. |

| | Zabaleta wore down Hartfield in the final set on their only previous meeting also on the dirt. Both players will be glad to back on their favoured surface but this has all the hallmarks of a baseline battle. Zabaleta certainly has the more productive serve and likes to go for his shots, he often hits winners and unforced errors in equal measure and there is a fine line between hitting a purple patch in a match and looking well below par. Hartfield plays a much higher percentage game and doesn't have as much penetration in his shots. Close to call but I reckon it is Zabaleta's to win or lose. |

| | Zabaleta is one of the players that avoids hardcourts as much as possible, it is a little surprising as his serve has plenty of bite and he is fairly consistent from the back of the court. However, once a player gets it into his head he is unsuited by the surface he is half beaten before he starts. Luczak has lost 3 of his 4 starts this year but has been pretty competitive in all of them, the Aussie has managed to reach the third round on a couple of occasions here and at around 1.7 is must bet material. |

| | Kohlschreiber was enjoying a very consistent 2007, before he lost his way with losses to Calleri and a disappointing debacle against the all-out-of-sorts Dominik Hrbaty. Trying to get back on track here at Flushing Meadows, on a surface where he possesses a solid style. Zabaleta has traditionally experienced his best results on the clay courts and at the French Open slam, but he seems to have got better with age. The Argentine will engage the German in some long baseline rallies, but Kohlschreiber should be able to pull out enough guns in his aggression to dismantle Zab. Kohlschreiber in 4. |
