| | Jelena Jankovic has fired her coach Ricardo Sanchez immediately following her two victories at the Fed Cup on the weekend for Serbia in a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to the Russians at home.
Straight after the Kuznetsova win, JJ said she was keen to improve her game and believed that the Spaniard had given her "bad advice" ahead of the Oz Open (probably in relation to that horrible "new" serve technique).
"I want to be my own person. I want to return to my game and my instincts that have bought me this far. The matches here in Belgrade I have relied on just myself and it works great. We will see what happens, but right now I plan to train without a coach - just hitting partners", she said. |

| | Jelena Jankovic looks almost a definite non-starter for Serbia in this weekend's Fed Cup tie with with the Russians, she is currently in Florida nursing a back injury she sustained during the Australian Open.
"My appearance is doubtful. I still haven't arrived in Belgrade, I am sill in Florida, battling this back injury I suffered in Melbourne. As I was practicing a new way of serving I got injured during one of the training sessions at the Australian Open.
"I've played 35 Fed Cup matches and won 26. I've played carrying an injury and through pain and there have been some tough and beautiful moments. I am now pondering whether I should go through the same experience again as it could be at the expense of my fitness and I could miss months sidelined afterwards", the Serb said. |
