| | Im very pleased to see Keothavong at a ranking which gives her direct entry to the US Open. Before Roger Draper bought in his team of overseas coaches Anne was a British player who seemed to be a level above in training, professionalism and intensity within the LTA system. Draper and Roehampton has seen an improvement in British womans tennis, but they still struggle to qualify for Grand Slam events (apart from wild-card Wimbledon!)Fortunately Anne did not have to qualify this time, as she has never managed to make it through before, and takes on Glatch (qualifier) in what looks like a great opportunity for either player. Anne is enjoying her best form ever in which she has reached 76 WTA last month. Winning titles in Italy and Lebanon and making final in Surbiton and Greece as well as last 16 at Stanford (beating Mirza in the process and having a 4-1 final set lead over Bartoli) shows she has the ability to compete at top 100 level. Glatch is a tall American who is still looking to break into the top 200 but has qualified this week with victories over Jozami(183 WTA) O'Brien (compatriot of Anne 140 WTA) and Bratchikova (223 WTA) Past results have been indifferent with victory for Glatch over Kleybanova last year but defeats to lesser ranked players suggest Glatch to be inconsistent which makes this a tough match to call. Keothavong is a fairly steady performer and thus is favourite to win this encounter. Glatch will have the crowd on her side and with both having a great oppotunity to progress, nerves will play a part. Schiavone or Vives await the winner, which either could be a winnable match. Even though Keothavong favourite, and would love to see progress, I will side with Glatch due to good practise/form in qualifying and home crowd. |

| | Great britains anna just need to maintain her head and not go for every shot. She not the greatest decision maker and sometimes is a bit patchy, but she can be pretty useful when she hits deep returns. |

| | Glatch is former junior US Open'05 finalist, she represent very good performance in three qualification round here in NY and alo important fact for Glatch is that behind her is Vanthof ex-Devenport coach |

| | Keothavong has the better stats and more experience in grand slams so am going for her but am a bit hesitant. |
