| | Andy Murray will be welcomed back at next year's Dubai Open despite being widely criticised for appearing to use the big money tournament as a training experiment.
The world No.3 has been given a reassurance by the tournament owners, Dubai Duty Free, even though title sponsors Barclays have indicated displeasure at the Scot's post-defeat comments.
Murray was also criticised by media after volunteering that he had been trying out new tactics and different shot-making during a surprise second round defeat to Janko Tipsarevic, the world No. 39.
"The stuff that I was doing in the matches here are similar to what I'd be doing if I was training this week," admitted Murray, who is believed to have received about $400,000 in appearance money to compete in a tournament with a $ 2-million prize fund.
In other Murray news, the Brit has signed an adidas contract worth a reported 15 million dollars - so big that the huge sporting product company decided to cut ties with other big names including Djokovic, Baghdatis and the Bryan brothers. |

| | Might pay to take care with Murray in smaller events - it's clear his focus is on the big ones.
He had this to say after losing to Tipsarevic in Dubai: "If it had been a Slam, my tactics and game style would have been a bit different." |

| | Murray appeared to have some physical issues, perhaps with his groin and a knee in his match against Kunitsyn.
Murray: "My ankle was sore at the start of the match and I was really out of breath early on. I have not practised that much, or trained that much and there were a lot of long rallies." |

| | Part of a longer interview with Murray where he said that Dubai is one of his favourite tournaments:
"I have had a lot of time to think since Australia and I've worked a few things out in my mind. I have not really done very much at all on the practice court and I've spent most of my time just relaxing and taking in a few football matches."
"Now I'm raring to go again but after all the hard physical work I did in December and then playing the Hopman Cup in Perth before preparing for the Australian Open, I think it was important to get good rest." |

| | Andy isn't too popular with the organisers of the Marseilles tournament.
From tennis in depth:
Murray was set to be the top seed in this week’s event, but a statement on his website said he was taking an extra week off following his efforts at the Australian Open, where he lost in the final to world number one Roger Federer.
Tournament organiser Jean-Francois Caujolle was quoted in the Daily Express as saying: "Murray did the same thing to me last year. He can't know what it is to keep his word."
"A week ago, he asked me for a wildcard to play doubles with his brother Jamie and I gave him one. A few days ago he asked me for five hotel rooms and I gave him them."
"The number one seed of a tournament should have a sense of responsibility. If he does not respect his commitments, he should be suspended by the ATP." |

| | Murray out of Marseille next week. Opens up the draw with DelPot also out. Probably a good thing - he does play a ton of matches, a ton of running in most of them, and has probably been lucky he's not had more knee/thigh problems. |

| | British number one Andy Murray has dropped out of the world`s top four for the first time since August 2008.
Murray was overtaken by Juan Martin Del Potro and slips to fifth after opting to play in the Hopman Cup instead of defending his Qatar Open title.
The 22-year-old will now be seeded fifth for next week`s Australian Open.
"Seedings don`t make a difference. If you get to the quarter-finals, you have to beat the best players anyway."
"Maybe it`s one more than normal but you bank on the top four seeds getting to the last eight."
"There are always surprises and i need to make sure i get there myself first." |

| | Few days ago I thought there was something different about Murray's forehand, but couldn't pin it down..... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/tennis/article6982889.ece "What was very evident is that Murray was willing to open his shoulders more on his cross-court forehand, a stroke that has been regarded as a defensive option, a rally extender, rather than a rally ender. “It was one of my best shots growing up,” he said. “Then the backhand down the line improved and I started to hit that more often. It is practice and confidence. “I believe I can hit the forehand harder than most players and flatter, I can get the ball to go through the court. I don’t have physical problems to worry about, like when I came back from the wrist injury in 2007 and I was scared to tee off on my backhand.” To the end of playing with a greater intent, Murray has altered the weight dispersal in his racket, with more towards the head, and he is stringing them a bit tighter. “When I first came on the tour my racket weighed a ton but I reduced it bit by bit and then I wanted to add more weight to the head. It feels good.” " |
