| | I thought Serra would win easily and still ended up losing out of the match. His little stunt losing a 4-0 lead and then the scoreboard mistake still gave me the slip despite not even rating Machado. |

| | Machado came back from the dead at 0-4 in the first set to take it to a breaker and had the chance to serve it out at 5-4 in the tiebreak but Serra fought back to take the set. Serra once again raced clear in the second set but the Frenchman had now broken Machado's spirit and went on to take the set 6-1. A typical claycourt match but the quality was pretty poor with neither player able to get enough penetration on their groundstrokes to really boss proceedings. Unforced errors galore from both players but Serra lives to fight again and faces Cipolla in the next round. |

| | Right I get ya now. Yes the word "electrique" is french. I'm Irish though. So I can't be accused of patriotism, there not being any Irish players about. |
