| | Fernando:"I can be top 5 this year" :)
“It’s very difficult to finish in the top five, but I look and I see that it is possible. You have to have the results I’ve had these three weeks throughout the year. I will fight with everything I have to get it.”
“The last three weeks have given me great confidence, I have improved my self-esteem and I hope to be playing in the final in Roland Garros. If I have Nadal in my side of the draw, of course it will be very difficult. But with Federer, Djokovic or Murray, I think I have the potential to reach the final.”
About the injury picked up last week against Melzer in Madrid. "My ankle was injured in my opening match against Karlovic, which was part of the reason I chose not to play doubles."
"My injury is not seroius and im going to Nice to pick up some pace ahead of Paris. It is an area that is difficult to see because it is between the tendons of the right ankle. It is a nuisance I would rather not have, but if the doctors say its nothing serious, I will be able to go into Paris positively and believe that I can reach one hundred percent there.”
VAMOS NANDO :) |

| | Hopefully Verdasco will be ok for the French.
He had this to say after losing to Melzer and confirming he's battling an ankle injury: "It's annoying, and the injury is in a difficult place. There are lots of tendons in this zone but two physios have told me it isn't serious. I think I'll be able to make it for Paris and to be 100 per cent."
I presume the fact that he's been told the injury isn't serious is why he stayed out there against Melzer. |

| | Verdasco on playing in Madrid:
"In the first set {against Karlovic} there were some games where I had good opportunities. But almost every time I had chances to win one, or to break him, he managed to hit good first serves that made things more difficult," said Verdasco. "But I knew the match would be that way, and I was mentally prepared for it. Of course the tie-break in the first set boosted my confidence and allowed me to play more calmly in the second set, and in the end to break him.
"The important thing is that I managed to get past him, and I’m happy to move on to the next round. It’s always special to play in Madrid, in my city and with all the people. I love playing in Spain, but being from Madrid it’s even better to be here and have all the people behind me." |

| | | Always bizarre to me when players take the short term cash and change rackets, knowing the trouble so many have had. It's messed up Djokovic's game no end, Ljubicic was ruined by it for at last a year, and Verdasco has been largely hopeless this year too. |

| | Hope it works out. Verdy to me is one of the least tactically aware players but when he is "on" he's one of the best to watch.
His match with Rafa at the AO last year is a modern classic. |

| | | Yes mate is defintely going to be a worry. I can`t understand why he would leav addidas though, Gil Reyes as taken him to this next level i believe. But maybe Nando believes he can`t take him no further and it`s time for fresh ideas. |

| | After briefly using a Yonex racquet and then returning to his Tecnifibre frame, Fernando has officially signed with Dunlop racquets.
Fernando signed an international contract for rackets, strings and accessories, while also agreeing to play a key role endorsing Dunlop’s junior talent identification programme – D-Squad.
“Becoming a brand ambassador for Dunlop is a very proud moment for me,” he said. “I look forward to joining the great players already associated with the brand. I am continuing to work hard and with the help from Dunlop I hope to be able to make this my most successful year to date.”
Barry Leach, MD of Dunlop Sport said: “Fernando is a world class addition to Dunlop and exemplifies the quality we look for at the brand. He plays an exciting style of tennis and, if he can build on last year’s performances, I would expect him to be a main fixture in the ATP top ten this year.”
I so hope Nando don`t wear Dunlop clothing aswell lol, that would be very un-cool. My favorite ATP can`t be wearing Dunlop, please just be racquet and keep with addidas clothing Nando! |
