| | | Robin Soderling has been granted the third and final wildcard to play in next week's hot field in Rotterdam. Interesting why he wasn't on the original list, only can think that he originally planned to get some rest after AO, or that his dodgy elbow may have begged for less of a schedule. |

| | Tennis in Depth:
Soderling made 67 unforced errors and was scathing in his assessment of his performance. (against Granollers).
"No, I started terrible and finished terrible," he said bluntly when it was suggested things were going well early in the match. "I played a horrible match today and I am terribly disappointed."
"I didn't feel good at all and I didn't play well."
Although the fragile Swede, who has won four ATP titles, pulled out of the AAMI Classic last week because of elbow tendonitis, he said he was 100 per cent fit and that the loss had nothing to do with any injury.

| | From the BBC...
Meanwhile, Robin Soderling fell victim to injury at the Kooyong warm-up event. The Swedish world number eight has an elbow injury.
Soderling retired hurt after losing the first set 6-4 against Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic. Last year's beaten French Open finalist, Soderling said a tendinitis injury that has been troubling him since Wimbledon flared up during his dead rubber against Ljubicic.
"It was better yesterday, today I felt it a little bit more, so I figured I didn't want to take any more risks," he said.
"A lot of times, it gets better in just a couple of days, so with some rest and some treatment, I really hope I will feel good next week." |

| | Soderling following his defeat by Ginepri:
"Everything went wrong, but the heat was not a factor," the Swede said.
"I tried my best, but it was an off-day. I was just not hitting the ball well. It is hopefully just a one-off thing."
Soderling now says he is looking to play another tournament before the Aust Open and is looking at Kooyong (which is holding open a place for Federer). |
