| | Another mismatch between a beloved claycourter and a big-serving hard-court player. Economidis stands at 6'6" and his serve is pretty heavy so too are his groundstrokes but he likes to get into the net wherever possible. That game style is not overly suited on clay as we all know, and Junqueira will enjoy that flashy style and should negate it with his consistency from the back. He is also very speedy, and as pointed out by koliopp has beaten M Gonzalez, Ventura, Pashanski and Witten of late which is good enough form for this. He has won 16 of his past 19 matches and is in sparkling form, and will have too many answers for the Greek man here. |

| | They've only met once previously at the Athens Olympics, but Economidis was green back then. Despite the fact he still plays most of his tennis on the challenger circuit, the giant 6'6" Greek has improved out of sight. He needs to call on all his weaponry against last year's finallist Fernando Gonzalez, a flashy and very powerful man who loves going for his shots. 'Gonzy' was disappointing in the Kooyong exhibitions by his lofty standards, and will be looking to get back on track here. He has a very good return of serve, but Economidis can be buoyed by the fact that the Chilean has struggled for consistency on the backhand side over the past 12 months (something Stefanki is working really hard on). He is a little less than 50% against the big men also, so if Economidis can get enough cheap points on his first ball, he can put Gonzy under immense pressur eon his own albeit strong serve. At massive odds of around the $8-$9 mark, the Greek man is very tempting, but you'd be surprised if a man with this much talent and this many points to defends in the rankings was to lose out. |
