| | Warming-up match-up for Monfils. Guccione wont be able stand Monfils agressive play at this surface. |

| | Monfils took an injury timeout in the second set against Karlovic and could barely serve by the end of that match. |

| | Not a good match-up for the Aussie who fell to the in-form Monfils only last week in Nottingham. The match was even with a single break of serve in the second set separating the pair, but the Gucc only had 1 less break point opportunity and headed the stats in aces, 1st serve in and points won and second points won. It is well documented that he is heavily reliant on his booming serve, and is very susceptible to accurate players who force him to move and punishing returners who force the uncomfortable volleys out of him where he is still not yet crisp. Monfils is adapting quickly to the grass after his clay heroics in the French, and lost out to Ivo Karlovic in two nail-biting tiebreaks in that Nottingham event. The Frenchman also has the benefit of a huge serve, but his game is a lot more well-rounded as he is very compotent from the baseline and boasts a massive forehand that is likely to test Chris. Guccione should have beaten Davydenko here last year but as usual his fitness was telling - he is 2 from 7 in matches that have gone past the 3 sets while Monfils' only loss in a match that has gone the distance in 6 attempts was to Djokovic at the 05 US Open. Gael is finally realising his potential, and looks well set to improve his record against the lefties to 8 from his last 9 with a hard-fought but comfortable victory. |

| | Dont expect to many ralleys in this one. Both players have good games for grass with there awsome serves i would put Guccione ahead at the net tho.I think Monfils got the all round game an as the better game an has he beat Guccione this week in straight sets i think Monfils should come through but if Monfils as an off day i can see Guccione makeing life very hard for the young talented frenchman.monfils 3-1 in sets for me!! |

| | Monfils won this match up just last week at Nottingham where the Frenchman managed the only break of the match and although the scoreline looks close Monfils was always more of a threat on return in that match. Both players have big serves but crucially Monfils is the more likely to cut out opportunities on return and the Frenchmans ground game is somewhat superior to that of Guccione. Monfils was able to break Karlovic twice in his latest match so it is reasonable to expect he'll have his chances against the similar (but nowhere near as effective as Karlovic)style of Guccione. |

| | A wonder of a first set! Karlovic gets an early break and Monfils comes back to break him, some amazing tennis. I think Karlovic got a little complacent after getting the early break and once Monfils broke him, he locked in and made sure he didn't face a break the rest of the set. As predicted he outlasted Monfils in the tiebreak, coming back from a mini-break on his second serve of the tiebreak. He's got all the momentum and should take the second set quite handily...as I'm writing Ivo just took his first game on 4 straight, firing down 2 aces. GO IVO!!! |

| | Not much to add on the extensive coverage - have to say that the info on Karlovic's arm is interesting news. I don't think going deep into Nottingham will do too much against Karlovic's preparation for Wimbledon considering his game is centered on his serve. Still, Monfils must surely be hungry for his first title following his come-back and RG heroics. Matchup-wise I'd say the bookies have overrated Ivo who I'm only leaning slightly towards - value definitely lies with Monfils. Props to Bunsen for the info if it is indeed accurate. |
