After officially pulling out of Wimbledon, Fernando Gonzalez has announced some further bad news via his website - won't see him back until August;
Unfortunately, I have bad news. The bilateral patellar tendinosis affects me force me to be without competition for 10 weeks. Because of that, I can not play tournaments in Gstaad, Bastad, Hamburg and, most regrettably, the quarter-finals of the Davis Cup against Czech Republic in Coquimbo.
The treatment to which I am submitting required to stop competing over a long period of time. If I return to Davis again have complications and, beyond that, I am not even 50 percent of my ability to play those games. I feel enormous grief of losing a competition that I like. I wish things were otherwise, but there is another option. If all goes well, could be back on the circuit at the Toronto Masters 1000."
Smart and overdue move by Gonzalez imho - he's announced he's going to work with Darren Cahill - one of the best coaches around (worked with Agassi and Hewitt).
Gonzo is also working with physical trainer Ricardo Lara, a member of the Chilean Davis Cup team.
Cahill added years to Agassi's career - Gonzo needs such a push in my view - he's losing to guys he shouldn't lose to, too often.
