| | I havent made many tips today or many roughie tips. But there should be a small amount of money thrown in Pless here. He has a much more accomplished record on the hard courts. This year beckers record is 12-17 on the hard courts while Pless' is 23-17 and i know that Becker plays much more in the atp tour while Pless is based in the challengers. But he has shown some good wins of late in the challengers against players who play very well in the atp and have established themselves are good players. Although Becker has proven himself with some very good scalps of late such as Davydenko, but his form has also been shaky with some uncharateristic loses and i see that run continuing so i think a stab is to be made on pless. |

| | Its a little mystery for me why Becker is rated here the big favourite - besides a victory against Davydenko - which i cannot take serious on grass - there is not much gold shining on his record this year. Pless stagnated after his success on junior level and he possesses for sure no good record this year but he has for sure the potential and motivation to give Becker a tough fight. |

| | The h2h series is tied at 1-apiece with Pless winning the last encounter on a similar American hardcourt, but Becker has improved a lot since then while the Dane's career has very much took a plateau. The baseliner sticks predominantly to the challenger circuit, and in 2008 has endured a pretty torrid time especially at ATP level - he has failed to qualify all 3 occasions for main-level events and the only time he was granted direct entry (Newport, last week) he coughed up a 6-4 5-1 lead to astonishingly go down to Russian youngster Ledovskikh (ranked 193). Benny Becker has been on the upward spiral after a horror start to the year, and ever since beating Gremelmayr and pushing Blake all the way at Halle his serving stats have been quite incredible. The German is full of confidence after beating Davydenko at Wimbledon, and no doubt he'll be keen to avenge for his 5 straight defeats on the American hardcourt seaso of 2007. A bigger serve, bigger groundstrokes and a superior pedigree on the surface would indicate that Becker only needs to turn up mentally to have a big upper hand here against a guy who's confidence will clearly be shattered. |

| | Unbeliavable match this was. Pless led 6:4, 5:1 and lost, and in the process he managed to make world record 22 double faults. |
