| | The most I can give Tipso will be 1 set against the American. I foresee a 3-4 set win (agree with hibzo). Roddick has improved his game of late despite not having participated in many tournaments due to injury worries so I could better evaluate his current credentials! However, his run at Queens was a good barometer & I fancy him to progress. |

| | After the epic 5 setter in the Australian open between janko and FedEx, janko in an interview stated "I went out believing i could win this match, why not?!". This is representative of what an ATP tennis player should be - professional unlike players like Schnyder and Vaidisova who throw games (and we know it coz we have seen it recently). this guy will buy you more bank for your buck and wille xploit any Roddicks weaknesses, injuries or other. So if the "A Rod" doesn't bring his "A Game" then he came go "A way" after today |

| | A nice amount of cash placed here on Andy today....Janko is likely to pull an upset on player ranked outside top 10, but not Andy Roddick on grass. He may take a set though... 3-1 A-Rod |

| | This promises to be another test for A-ROD imo..Roddick against Schwank looked good enough serving down 17 aces winning 52 of 64=(81%) points behind is first serve an winnig an impressive 21 of 32 (66%) points behind is second serve. But Tipsarevic was just as effective in the serveing department in his 1st round match serving 18 aces winning 41 of 49 (84%) behind is first serve and 20 of 30 (67%) behind the second serve. Both players as aswsome serves i think Roddick has a better defence game an more variety on the backhand wing but i give the edge to Tipsarevic on the forehand wing. They meet once before at Wimbledon an it was a close match intill the last set but i think Tipsarevic game is alot stronger an i think Tipsarevic +6.5 games at 5/6 must be snapped up |

| | There were question marks over Roddick in the first round but he answered them with flying colours. The American, to no surprise, faced not a single break for the entire match, firing down 17 aces and winning 81% behind the first ball and committing just 9 unforced errors in over 2 hours of play. The A-Rod is made for the grass where his thunderbolt serves and heavy forehand play come into the picture, but still would like to see him approach a little more particularly behind the serve (he was 20 of 35 at the net against Schwank). His opponent today Tipsarevic, whom he beat in 4 sets here in 2006 amassing 28 aces and saving all 9 bp opportunities for the Serb, surpassed little-known Frenchman Thierry Ascione in Round 1 though he was made to fight in the first set. The Serb only lost 8 points on first serve and blasted 18 aces, however the returning prowess of Roddick is going to be heads and shoulders above that of Ascione. In the lead-up tournaments, Tipso only just struggled past Navarro and Minar at Queens (ranked 135 and 71, both with an unflattering grass record), then lost out to big-serving Aussie youngster Samuel Groth (308) which is a worrying concern. The fact is that here he won't get many chances on Roddick's serve and despite his flashiness he simply commits too many errors particularly on the big points. His record against top 10 players is just 3-14, and given he has succumbed to the less-dimensional big-serving likes of Groth, Gonzalez, Haase, Lopez, Bozoljac and Ljubicic this year, it's hard to make a case for him. With a fairly cruisy draw that pits the American up against the inconsistent Tursunov, Almagro who has no grass pedigree and with the exits of Davydenko and Ljubicic early on, the opportunity is there for Andy who appears to be flying under the radar en route to what should be almost a certain semi-final appearance. |

| | Tipsarevic ran Roddick close here two years ago in a fairly tight four set match. The Serb created nine break points in that match but failed to take any of them while Roddick managed to secure three of the four break points he had and that match suggests this may not be plain sailing for the American. Tipsarevic's first serve percentage can be a worry and can often hover around the 50% mark but if the Serb is able to serve around the 60% as he did in the first round he would certainly enhance his prospects. Roddick is in his element on the grass and only Federer has a better grass record than the bullet serving American. The biggest worry for those looking an upset in this match is Tipsarevic's record against big servers this year just two wins which came against the limited Berrer the other against Zverev but losses to Ljubicic, Bozoljac, Lopez, Haase, Gulbis and Groth the last named was ranked 308 at the time and was on grass. None of the aforementioned players serve like Roddick. Having said that there is plenty to like about Tipsarevic's game he defends and moves reasonably and is prepared to take the fight to opponents with his flat attacking groundies and he certainly appears to raise his game when playing the better players. His Aussie Open exploits against Federer being a perfect example. The simple fact is he won't get too many opportunities against the Roddick serve and it is difficult to see him winning the three sets required but he is certainly capable of pushing for a set. |

| | Love to see the Schwank beat Roddick at 14/1 odds. Worth a bet on him but Roddicks powerful serve and groundstrokes are why the odds are so. I'd say a competitive 3 setter to Roddick here...NO VALUE...look elsewhere |

| | Im going to have a small bet on Schwank in this one there always a big upset and it might just be here.We all know Roddick impressive run at Wimbledon over the years but he plays today a young player who just got a big future imo an will show no fear.Roddick played some good tennis this year and he looked good at Queens intill he bumped into Nadal where he struggled for me an looked toward the end flat out on is feet.Maybe he`s not over is injury yet.Schwank has had just a handful of games on grass but played some good stuff with what i seen an if Schwank can settle down early on he might just pull it off!! |

| | Schwank has had a terrific year on the clay and is certainly a player of immense promise and has all the qualities to make a top player in the future. He has had just the three outings on grass and wasn't disgraced on his latest start against Seppi, taking the Italian to a final set breaker and the Argentine has great fighting qualities to go with his consistent and powerful baseline game. Roddick is considered one of the elite grass court players of his generation and his game is based on an incredibly powerful serve that most have great difficulty in returning. The American's back hand slice comes into its own on this surface where it keeps low and is a difficult shot to attack. He has a good forehand which is the wing that is most likely to produce winners for him, for me he is quite weak when coming into the forecourt and his volleying skills leave something to be desired. Nevertheless he has the type of game that is difficult to break down on this surface although I do believe the Schwank style is one that may pose a few problems to Roddick but he should still get through. |
