| | Murray's dealing with Acasuso 3-0 in the French should be proof enough that he's not one of the best. He is also very lazy and has low work rate from the back court, hardly the classic traits of a claycourter. He is more a hardcourter who forgot to play well on hard. |

| | Not sure where this Acasuso= best claycourter in the world is coming from...that statement is the furthest thing from the truth. The Argentine is a big server with some quality groundies, but he is very inconsistent and often lazy with his footwork and shot selection. He is also prone to the odd shock defeat (losses this year to Mirnyi, Horna, Montanes, Decoud, Cuevas) and has lost 8 of his past 11 all on clay not to mention has been struggling with a stomach injury. Two previous ventures to this event in 02 and 04 have yielded two early losses, and Roger-Vasselin has the advantage of having a match under his belt albeit a lucky escape against Verkerk saving match points and aided by a retirement at a tight stage in the third set. The Frenchman rates clay as his favourite surface also, and has the fleet foot to get on the end of the Acasuso serve and to keep the ball in play which can often cause Aca to flare up in frustration. Ball-getters such as Montanes (2), Horna, Cuevas, Hewitt, Canas, Ascione, Robredo, Ferrer, Koubek and Hartfield are just a number of the long list of guys to have frustrated the Argentine into a loss, and given his recent horrible form I can't see any reason why Roger-Vasselin cannot add to that. Admittedly, he'll need to improve his stats on serve that he dished up to the lacklustre returning capabilities of Verkerk, but this guy is fit and you know he'll last the distance. Nobody would want to take Jose at these odds, so stick with the value in what is otherwise an unenthralling affair. |

| | Acasuso's form of late has not been that flattering and neither has Vasselin's. Acasuso isnt at the best odds at the moment so i am a bit hesistent to bet on him but i think he will win. His form of clay this year hasnt been the best but substantial enough to beat Vasselin. Acasuso has a 56% win ratio (18-14) on clay while Rogers is 36% which for a challenger and for a favoured surface is quite terrible. He has struggle to string wins together and advance through many tournaments while Acasuso has played enough in the atp to know what it takes to win matches, he shouldn't find many problems in the match if he shows up wanting to win. |

| | Acasuso has been in fairly poor form but as Tinmah pointed out he beat Roger-Vasselin pretty comprehensively the last time the pair met. Roger-Vasselin may or may not have won the match with Verkerk last time but he'd be the first to admit the Dutchman's retirement was a big help. I've looked hard at finding a way to oppose Acasuso here and although I couldn't back him (given his recent form) he is far stronger in most aspects than Roger-Vasselin. |

| | How the hell can you say Acasuso is one of the best claycourters in the world? I could name too many who are far better. I'd give Acasuso a good game. He has had a year to forget this year aswell with some weak losses on his so called favourite surface in the past few months but despite all of this he should beat Roger-Vasselin without too much bother. Edouard got through by way of retirement from Verkerk in the last round although I got the impression he was starting to turn the tables. Acasuso has a big serve and an equally big forehand and will have too much power and presence for the Frenchman. I'll have a bit of 2-0 here at very tempting odds. Roger-Vasselin 5/2 Acasuso 2/7. |

| | Roger-Vasselin got annihilated by smoking Joe exactly a year ago in Umag with 6-2 6-0. He is just a poor overall player and his recent losses to Marrero-Santana and Munoz-De La Nava on clay say it all. He was extremely lucky to beat Martin Verkerk, who was a lot better but messed up 3 matchpoints before ruining his ankle in a difficult reach, forcing him to retire. Only worry for Acasuso could be the lack of matches on clay recently. He played just one match since the French Open, losing to in form Montanes.6-3 7-6(5). After a great start in South America he came into a slump this year and will be eager to get out of it. Smoking Joe for me! |

| | i will take acasuso on trust here, afterall he is one of the best clay courters in the world - his condition is a concern but should dismiss his opponent who didnt have the best previous round. |
