| | A tough first up assignment for the top ranked player in the qualifying draw Peter Luczak, who has drawn the more than capable big serving Wesley Moodie of South Africa. Moodie enjoys these court conditions and will have the Aussie on the stretch for a vast maojrity of his service games. But Luczak does have the advantage as soon as a rally develops, with his steadiness off both wings and his superior court speed a concern for Moodie. Luczak has not performed as well as we would have expected on the harder courts of America in the past, but will be aiming to make the main draw here. His own serve has improved now to the point where he'd be confident of holding his own games to force this into tiebreakers, after all Moodie's groundstrokes are not overly devastating nor does he have much variety and unpredictability. |

| | Moodie has exciting 10-3 in Japan(0-1 for Ferrer). Only Federer could stop his last appearence here...
+ Moodie has good stats in Hard Court Tiebreaks ( Ferrer won just about 30% of them )
So, I think here we can see a sensation...
Moodie in straight sets I think! |

| | Expect Ferrer to make mince meat out of Moodie in a match where Moodie doesn't have a chance to impress the Americans for his quest for a green card (like all South Africans eager to become Americans). |

| | Tough one to pick. Phau is speedy and consistent from the back, and posseses some good controlled aggression in his matches. Moodie is a conventional big server who likes to rush to the net to take advantage of his opponents being often out of position on the return. Phau has lost 4 of his last 5 against the big men, but he was impressive at this tourny last year, making it all the way to the quarters before being halted by the talented Tomas Berdych. Phau also matched it with the high-flying Hyung Taik Lee last week for a set and a half which shows he's in smoe good touch. Stick with form and match play and Phau will give you some good value to win in 3 sets. |

| | The big serving South African giant will be unlucky if he was to lose more than 4 or 5 games. Sweeting simply does not have the armoury to compete with Moodie who will ease into the next round. |

| | The quality of the Moodie return is likely to have most bearing on the outcome of this match. Santoro won 90% on first serve and 60% on second when they met last month at Halle and stats like that make the veteran Frenchman a firm favourite here. |

| | Spadea dominated Capdevilles second ball winning 65% of points. Apart from that he didn't look too impressive and the experienced grass courter from South Africa should pose a bigger challenge here. |

| | Moodie looks to have been more dominant than a 3 set scoreline might suggest, having won 39 points against the Croat serve whilst dropping just 21 points off his own serve all match. |
