| | If Fed isn't fit, Nadal, Agassi and Sampras will have to go it alone in the "Hit for Haiti in Indian Wells".
It is expected to raise $1 million for Haiti relief efforts, but organiser Steve Simon will have to find a timely replacement for the Swiss great as he and Sampras were scheduled to take on the unusual combination of Nadal and Agassi at 7.30pm PST on Friday March 12th with the match originally planned to be aired live on the Tennis Channel. |

| | Federer, shortly after making the following encouraging announcement via Facebook, suggesting he expected to be fit in time for Indian Wells, now appears set to miss the event after all.
"I am feeling really good again and I was happy to hear from my doctor today that I have the green light to start working out again so I plan to try and play in Indian Wells next week. Thanks for the well wishes."
Nothing is yet confirmed, but the lung infection from which he is still ailing appears set to keep him sidelined. |

| | An ATP official close to Roger Federer said on Sunday that the Swiss number one is improving whilst training at his base in Dubai despite still being on medication for a lung infection picked up a few weeks ago.
He flew to Zurich to undergo tests, where wife Mirka's flight was delayed three hours (and landed at 5am) due to the storm that swept through the emirate.
Fed is expected to be fit for Indian Wells. |

| | Roger Federer, speaking to Swiss tabloid Blick, says he is optimistic that he will be fully fit by Indian Wells after missing Dubai with a lung infection.
"This is not like the mononucleosis two years ago, where there was a lot of uncertainty. I think I'll start back in Indian Wells, and when I start, I will be healthy and fit. But as I said, it's only possible if I get the green light physically [from the doctors]. The worst cases prognosis is a break of six weeks."
Federer said he first felt ill last Tuesday. "After the Australian Open I took it fairly easy so there's no question of it being from strain. Last Tuesday, I practiced and it quickly went downhill. I felt chills, fever, a lot of pain in my ribs and couldn't breather normally. The fatigue is still there, though it's slowly getting better." |

| | McEnroe says a lot of things but I reckon he's right on this one:
ZURICH (AP)—John McEnroe thinks Roger Federer is the best men's tennis player of all time.
McEnroe, also considered one of the game's greats, said Tuesday he ranks the Swiss star ahead of Rod Laver, the only man to win all four Grand Slam events in one year, and seven-time Wimbledon champion Pete Sampras.
Promoting an ATP Champions Tour event in Zurich, McEnroe said Laver was his idol and Sampras was the greatest grass-court player ever. But the American left-hander said Federer, who has won a record 16 Grand Slam titles, was the greatest of all.
McEnroe said Federer's ability to average two Grand Slam titles a year was "phenomenally consistent and amazing." |
