A secret between you and me, @Bunsen, is that when i noticed that it became harder and harder for Del Potro to hold his serves and Lopez started to play more and more solid, i got worried of my backing of Potro.

So i went to this page and started to read what people thought about the players. Thanks Holy Cod that i red yours, @Bunsen, and like you 'helped' @lacunainc, you made me to decide a hedging in time. Now, i made a small profit of 65 Euros instead of a loss of 500 Euros. Thanks, @Bunsen! My very best respects to you as a good predictor and better!

@square07: Scroll down. At 07:31:29 today, @Bunsen Burner wrote about Juan Martin's bad toe. And made an excellent prediction from that toe. :-)

Hi. I'm flying blind. Hope this hasn't started yet. The odds havent changed much so I guess it doesnt matter much (de Potro has actually gone out a bit) Excellent analyses @paul.

@paulmurphy - no worries. I do think its all uphill for Mr Lopez today. His chances would be increased if the court allows him to keep the ball low with his sliced backhand. Cant be easy for someone of DP's height to keep bending to pick up low skidding shots.

In fact for anyone who is lucky enough to be watching, how does the court speed look ? Fast, high/low bounce, etc ???

@HuggyB: couldn't agree with you more about the forum and I very much appreciate how you made your point. It's exactly how it should be done.
And there is much merit in your viewpoint...it is indoors and that will suit Lopez's serve though that doesn't take away from the fact that the Argentinians fancy themselves on it. You are a terrific addition to the site as I said in a post I made a couple of weeks ago. If I had any aces left you would get some. Sorry about that.

@paulmurphy - true. As you know, some indoor courts in fact play slower than outdoor courts (this year's Paris TMS court versus US Open courts for example). The main difference is the lack of wind when playing indoors.

Of course as you say, the court was picked to gain advantage for Argentina's players but then it was also picked before Nadal pulled out. From the Spaniard's point of view, they also chose to play Lopez based on the surface to best gain some advantage for them.

I just thought your figures were heavily biased by Del Potro's recent run on outdoor hardcourt when the match was being played indoors and so thought I would offer another viewpoint. After all, that's what a forum should be about. :)

@HuggyB: hello. Yes it's been played indoors but my understanding is that it is very much a "hardcourt" in the truest sense of the word. (I may be wrong but that is what I read in two places). That would make sense of course because the Argentinians want to use the surface that best advantages their players. (And they get to pick the surface). Cheers.

I think Del Potro has... Hmmm... 'slowed down' a little bit lately, but i am sure he will give the last drops of energy to win the Davis' matches and to win Davis Cup for Argentina. Don Juan will win today!

Also suggest if people are interested to read Mark Petchey's take on today's final over at Sky. I tend to agree that this is not a done deal yet. The doubles (as usual) is key and Spain should have the advantage in that department given the surface.

Sorry Paul to pull you up on something but you say "Hardcourt also suits Del Potro more than his opponent with a 27/10
(51/33 career) record versus Lopez's 17/18 (106/102 career)."

If you take it that this is being played indoors, the figures look more like Del Potro 8-6 (14-12 career) while Lopez is 10-8 (37-32 career). Doesn't look like the gap is quite as big when you look at it like that.

Del Potro's had a great year, rocketing up the rankings, and I feel that the chance of genuine success that this year's Davis Cup offers him will motivate him even further.

This is one of the worst sub 1.3 shots I've seen in recent times. It should win, but Del Potro isn't fit, he's recieving painkilling injections for his toe and hasn't been playing good tennis of late.

Unfortunately Lopez is probably too much of a bottler to take advantage.

Anyone going large at the odds on offer here wants their heads checked.
