Login to give Aces | | Lost money on Zheng. She did put up a good fight but man her serve was way too weak. 65 mph? She's better than that. I still don't like what I see from Jankovic. She's going to lose next round against Azarenka or Wozniacki if she keeps this form mentally and physically. |

Login to give Aces | | Zheng just doesn't cut it on the serving department against anyone in the Top 25 or anyone who are taller women. They will just step in and spank her like Janko did. She just needs to learn to serve conservatively and rely on her baseline play. But that means she will find it hard as the tournaments progresses to win matches.
Janko is alright. She probably played the match of the round. Too bad it will come to an end next time out. |

Login to give Aces | | Jelena struggled in the previous round in three tight sets against Arvidsson, whereas Zheng cruised thru in 2 easy sets against her opponent Medina Garrigues. I believe the Chinese, after Beijing has the mental edge over any nationality. I am taking a punt of first set win on Zheng, as Jelena has struggled in the past in first set. And also a 2-0 win (straight set) on Zheng over Jankovic at 5.00. Why not? As always, good luck. :).... |

Login to give Aces | | Wow.. I know it looks like your usual style of post Destroyer, but that can't really be you can it predicting Zheng Jie to turf Jankovic out? She wasn't even poor against Arvdisson I don't think personally. Arvidsson played a great match and took the game to her but the usual grit and determination we are used to seeing Jankovic display pulled her through. Only problem was getting the first serve in. I really can't see anyway in which Zheng is going to win this, unless a Monica Seles type incident occurs maybe. I love Jankovic (apart from the fact she hates Ana!), like her attitude on court and fighting spirit. I think we'll see a much improved and inspired performance from the Serbian No.2 here as she looks to creep up on Ivanovic. |

Login to give Aces | | Jelena Jankovic failed to serve out her match twice against Arvidsson who has the wood over her, and after prevailling in a 3-set and 2hr45 min struggle she declared to the media that she is "completely out of breathe...and struggling with the end of a big season". The Serb number two won a poor 29% on her second serve, committed 47 unforced errors and she reverted to simply plonking the first ball in late in the match which makes her first ball percentage stats a little deceiving. Jie Zheng has continued on her merry way, the Chinese has sprung to life since her Wimbledon semi final appearance and the self-confidence and belief in her abilities is showing. After an easy first up win, Zheng knocked over the gritty Medina Garrigues in just 79 minutes breaking the Spaniard on 5 occasions and winning 68% and 57% respectively off the first and second serves. The h2h stands at 2-apiece with Zheng winning the first two a few years back while Jelena got revenge once last year and also earlier this year though that meeting in Miami was a see-sawing encounter. When you aren't playing well and are feeling the effects of fatigue, Jie is the last player you want to meet - she is a tireless worker, moves exceptionally well, keeps the ball deep whilst giving you nothing much to work with and possesses lots of variety in her game mixing up the serves, the speed and the approaches into the forecourt where she is so skillful. Jankovic, at her best, would be able to dictate terms to the Chinese player and peg her well behind the baseline before finishing off the points down the line as she loves doing, but her confidence is just not there. She is an exhausted property, and as much as it would delight me to see her keep going I think even Jankovic herself realises her exit is imminent. |
