Chapeau, Roger! I was never in doubt. Betting against Federer here was like throwing your money out of the window. Roger has a mission here.

Does Stepanek have lips or is it two sausages lying one upon the other?

Federer continues to look like hes lost quite a bit from the form he displayed last year and really it seems like his days as grand slam champion are over, whether its because he's just regressed tremendously or because Nadal and the rest of the tour has improved. The Swiss was unimpressive against Alves, a guy who Fed should smash and even though it was a straight sets win, it was really anything but. Federer was never in danger of being threatened but his performance left much to be desired.

Stepanek didn't really bounce back well after a rugged clay court season and then a pretty demanding couple of matches at Wimbledon but the Czech native is always a threat on faster surfaces because of his ability to be tricky and crafty.

These two met earlier in the year in Rome when Stepanek shocked the world and took out Federer. Although the former world #1 has struggled some I doubt he'll lose to Stepanek in this spot. Federer may no longer be the favorite in this tournament and could in fact lose to Davydenko, Roddick, or Nadal but it isn't happening today.

Fed is a true champ...i think a couple of losses here and there will have done him the world of good...just what he needed to get the hunger back...fed's wrath has been awakened and this match is going to be a complete carve up...step has played the likes of load, guccione and moya this period...he's been beated by load, and moya and gucci have helped themselves to a set off him despite the fact that when push comes to shove they really aren't the cream of the crop right now...would be prepared to wager my first born child on fed to win

Federer is not No. 1 for one week and he plays first matches in the morning.
Why?
What a disrespect.

I simply can't stand radek so I'm trying hard to put my feelings to one side. He's a gutsy player that keeps coming at you. he has no obvious weakness and has great touch at the net. Howeer, he has no main strength. He's the type of player that will get the better of the very top players when they're having an off day. However, underestimate Roger at your peril. He's a born fighter who knows how to win matches when on poor form. Bar Nadal and Djokovic, every other player on the tour would kill for Roger's record this year. He's than Radek in every departmentand will be gunning to get back to where he belongs. Long live the King. Long live Roger!

right DO NOT JOKE. addin federer into a multi at 1/12 (sky bet) is a great bit of value when betting with huge wagers...even with my multi of roddick federer djokovic and tsonga he adds a worthwhile value to my overall profit. sure some people are sayin 'the value' is in stepanek but he wont win ..so wheres the value? nadal struggled against phau and noone mentions it and ill tell u now federer will get to the final...sure everyone says novak will take him out in the semis but hes gotta beat cillic and tsonga first.admitedly he surely will but its not all said and done just yet. either way federer is gunna turn it on..i have no doubt. anyways fed here for sure.

 R.Federer 3-1 (Set betting) <3.85> (Betfair)

Federer hasn`t looked that impressive to me in against his first two little unknow opponents but im expecting Fed to up his game today. As we know Radek bt Fed on clay in there last meeting (Rome) but i felt at least in that match Fed deserved the 2nd set.

Stepanek has a really good serve an is one of the best around the net.I can see Stepanek taking the 1st set in a close set but i still expect Federer to come through

Although i am huge fan of federer and i hade nadal i dont see federer retaining his title but see him win in a strong battle cause stepanek will give his best to show everyone that his win over federer in rome was not luck federer 3-2

BUNSEN BURNER: Well it`s because I don`t wanna bet against Federer. When you have rooted for one person after so many years, you stay loyal. Of course as a gambler myself the value lies with Stepanek (and I think he can mess things up for Federer, but I hope he keeps his cool togheter! (actually I have a hunch that I dont see Federer passing Djokovic in the semis if he reaches that far...).
It still is a surface that Federer is comfortable on tough!

@ksrinivasan09: The fact of the matter is that there is more than overwhelming evidence to suggest that Roger Federer is on the wane and his once indominable persona and presence is but a thing of the past.

Me, I think Roger is actually beating himself more than his opponents by his approach and psyche. The guy was close to tears before the final points were played out at Wimbledon and he bravely masked the obvious that he is hurting from this episode and the fact that he will NEVER win a French Open unless Nadal gets hit by a truck.

I know what Federer is like - he is a perfectionist and when he was a kid, he berated himself heavily for loses he sustained and would collapse dramatically and throw matches away. One thing about perfectionists is that if you cannot do it right, you may as well not do it at all.

Rodger the Dodger may not be able to evade the shots that Radek will fire. Hold on tightly, let go lightly Roger.

 How can you claim it's a 50/50 match and there's no value on a 7/1 shot :|
