A sad conclusion to the match for Machado but he showed some qualities in this match and was the better player for large portions of it. One of the biggest keys to the match was Machado's inabilty to close out winning positions, twice he served for the second set and was also 4-1 to the good in the fourth set although he did manage to sneak that one on the tiebreak to take it to a decider. For those of you that thought Machado was a challenger level dirtballer, shelve those thoughts, he certainly won't be out of place on the main tour and has the tools to make the top 50. He has plenty of aggression in his game bordering on over aggression at times but he is sound in defence and moves well. Mark him down as one to follow, I'm sure we'll get the money back and a bit on top with the Portugese. Credit to Verdasco for the win, there were times in the past when he would have gone under to a persistent challenger like he had here but the Spaniard is looking a lot sturdier mentally these days.

A catastrophic choke from Machado who twice served for the set. I liked his reaction to losing the set, he knows he's let a major chance slip. Too much erratic play from both but Verdasco should take some confidence from winning a set he was all but out of.

Verdasco played an excellent return game to break back but has undone his good work with an erratic service game and some wild stroke play to hand Machado back the initiative. Machado is abouit to start serving for the second set for the second time.

I'm ordering the beers as I watch, Machado has given as good as he's got and now a break up in the second, keep it going Rui with your controlled aggression!

I'm gonna take a risk and go with Machado over the 13 seed Verdasco, who I belive is overrated in general and in this match. He has not come through in big tournaments, his best performance is 4th round in '05 and his opponent is in the zone. Machado has faced already, a big server in de Voest, handled Cipolla, who subsequently beat a solid Yen Tsun-Lu, and he handled Massu who was playing quite well. Verdasco's game is vulnerable and I'm hoping he falters here, underestimating his opponent's ability.

@Destroyer - I never told anyone this before, and most certainly not publicly but why not I suppose - I'm psychic. Always have been since I realised when I was 5. It's a gift and a curse. I knew Ana was goijg to tuen down my marriage proposal before I asked her but I tried anyway :( :(. Liverpool will win mate I'm telling you. God lol, these Aussies don't listen. You would have made a bomb last week with my 2 Saturday winners! lol.

@Destroyer - I know he jsut discouraged you from betting on Liverpool but 11/8 is a fantastic bet and I'm normally the biggest pessimist when it comes to Liverpool. Villa are mediocre in my opinion. They are the type of teams we need to be beating to put up a decent challenge. I never get good feelings about Liverpool (anyone will back that up that's heard me speak on here) but I think we'll win on Saturday and make it 3/3.

@all: bullet's account hasn't in fact been "hacked" it is in fact the man himself posting the tips. Unfortunately time is not on his side hence the inability to do some write ups, but can safely say the Machado tip was not a mistake and in fact he does like him to topple Verdasco.

Wel it's either 2 things isn't it. Either someone's kidnapped, raped and forced Bullet to tell them his account details, or he's been at them Jamaican cigars again. Not a cat in hells chance.

Machado came through qualifying with some unimpressive stats but managed to get the job done and lifted his performance against the capable hardcourter in de Voest in straight sets. Machado is a battler who makes a lot of his earnings on the claycourt challengers, so he'll be rapt just to get through and earn himself an increased pay cheque. Verdasco looked in ominous form first-up against Russian Igor Kunitsyn - about twice as good a player as Machado on this terrain - winning 72% and 81% of first and second serve points respectively, breaking Igor 5 times and getting off court in just a touch over an hour and a quarter. He is improving his ability to knock over lower-ranked players with ease, and you know when the Spaniard is serving well that the rest of his attacking game is going to gel. He is a classy lefty with some fantastic aggressive weaponry and he'll find Machado much to his liking as he'll be able to dominate the claycourter from on or inside the baseline and only the biggest of chokes will see any other result and this is a sure thing for the multi's in my opinion. (is that really bullet selecting Machado, Alves and the like?)

i have to take this risk
@ around 7.5 for machado
who knows.. verdasco did some big disappointments recently in hard matches and i have to consider that is machado's bigger match ever, a big chance for him on this match

i might be alone to think that
