Login to give Aces | | Li Na has been preparing for this tournament for a long time and finally the moment arrives. The draw hasn't been overly kind to her facing third seed Kuznetsova first-up, but the Chinesewoman has conjured a victory over the Russian on the faster grass surface and has also pushed her to 3 sets on 2 of the other 3 meetings both on hardcourts. Kuzzy, by her own lofty standards, has been a tad disappointing this season and continues to have her problems with unforced error counts especially off her forehand side which was her major downfall at Wimbledon and the French this year. She is also starting to show negative body language when things aren't going her way, something we never saw from her in years gone by with her truly professional mindset. Both players are very good on hardcourts and had it not been for bad luck with injuries Li Na would have enjoyed a far greater year after beginning it so well with a title at the Gold Coast (d. Vaidisova, Schnyder, Azarenka) and SFs at Antwerp (d. CIbulkova) and Doha (d. Chakvetadze, Peer, Jankovic). She is a model of consistency who will not gift Kuznetsova any free points and also has the good serve to really trouble the Russian with her variety and possibly the occasional serve and volley. With the home crowd behind her and a very good record when representing her country, expect this Chinese talent to give the crowd something to raw about. |

Login to give Aces | | I think Na Li will have prepared really well for this and hardcourt is her favoured surface. She is likely to be in the same form as she showed at Doha and Antwerp earlier in the year. This match will mean 10x more to the Chinese girl than it will to Kuz. Motivation and preparation in this case will prevail over Kuz's superior ability. |

Much has been made of Kuznetsova's fall from grace too but her results recently have been solid enough to suggest she can get the job done here. The home crowd will be an absolutely huge factor no doubt, but Kuznetsova has been a grand slam winner at the noisey US Open on the same surface. So there won't be much import in that from Kuznetsova's end, although Li will surely extend herself because of it. |

Login to give Aces | | Kuznetsova looks a good price to me as I was expecting her to be shorter than 2/5. probably another over exaggeration of the 'home' factor. I'd fully expect Kuznetsova to over power here. Li is a decent player but the rankings don't lie. |
