Good insight from 'andyroddick', but on the flip side Shahar Peer has some big motivations for the Olympic games also. Aside from Israel having limited competitors across the board, Peer has lots of expectations from her natives in Israel and was selected for Beijing despite a massive form slump in 2008. Just recently, the Israeli has conjured wins over Czink and Lisicki, but surprising has been the lop-sided nature of her losses (eg. Sugiyama, Stosur, Dementieva, Petrova) for a player who was well renowned for her dogged never-say-die attitude. She can become a little too passive and can experience difficulties with her serving percentages, but those things aside this fleet-footed baseliner can match trades with the best in the business when in form. Cirstea, as evidenced by the couple of double-bagels earlier in the year, can often be overrawed by big occasions and despite being a talent at only 18 and ranked 57 you should wait to see more from the Romanian. She has produced her best results on the claycourts, and if Peer can get back to her plucky defensive best and utilise her superior experience and pound the suspect Cirstea serve, she should progress to the next round much to the delight and reward of Israeli selectors.

The 18-year-old Romanian spent nearly two weeks in Las Vegas training with Agassi's close friend and personal trainer, Gil Reyes, and hit with both Agassi and Graf on Agassi's court. The 57th-ranked Cirstea has a clothing and shoe contract with adidas, which is also endorsed by Agassi and Graf. Reyes is now a member of adidas' coaching team and works with several adidas-sponsored players.
"It was the most impressive moment for me," Cirstea told the Romanian media. "Steffi was my idol growing up and I got to play on Andre Agassi's private court and see his Olympic gold medal. They are two extraordinary people. They will always be in my heart."

I really think that kind of experience can make her play much better, and a small stake on the underdog for me

I Shahar Peer actually had a good brain surgeon, she probably could be Top 10 material. The girl is a tall and powerful player on her day but all too many times, i see her hop skip and jump off a cliff the way she approaches this profession. Should win but Cirstea is a great hitter but a crap server tho...
