From my point-of-view the figures of prediction are not telling the truth. Not for me. I see this as a 50/50 match. Both players are known as now-and-then chokers, but both of them can (if they are in shape) play brilliant tennis. No, no bets in this match.

Simon an underdog? Robin should first study how to win Kohly LOL then go to Simon. Ive probably backed him all the time until he lost to Kiefer and i will do it again

ryan: i don't really know what about my post you didn't like, but the gist of my post was that I didn't think that simon would be able to handle soderling's big serve, and your post doesn't convince me otherwise. i also didn't say anything about soderling having a "big future" so i don't know where you got that from. the only place where i can see you got that from is where i called him one of the better talents on tour, which i believe to be true. he is a talented player and his serve is indeed his major weapon, but he does also have decent return statistics. don't get me wrong, i like simon, but i just don't think he has a great chance against soderling.

Simon hasn't got a cat in hells chance here. Soderling will power past him a bit like a Ferrari past a Ford Escort. Soderling will be the player carrying the most of my money through the first round. Absolute steal. I do like Simon but he is not up the the Swede's standard.

i don't really see anything in simon's past to show that he has a great chance here. sure he has played well recently, but other than a win against what has been a very disappointing roger federer, where were the great marquee wins? in all honesty, i see gilles simon as the type of player who will consistently beat the average-good players, but who will very rarely come up with a huge win, especially on the biggest stages (see simon's career in grand slams). unfortunately for simon, i see soderling as one of the best talents on tour.
i also don't really see how simon will be able to handle soderling's huge serve. in 2 of the 3 previous encounters, soderling's 1st serve proved to be too much for simon, as soderling took 88 and 89% of the points off of his 1st serve. in the other match simon wasn't troubled by the serve, but i don't think that is the norm, as simon has lost 4 of his past 8 against "big servers" with losses coming to blake, stepanek, bolelli, and haase. this should be the beginning of what could be a pretty nice run for soderling in beijing.

agree with gwyer. Simon game has improved greatly. He is knocking at the door of the top 10 and I believe he can make it. Some may not like his play but it obviously is doing something and I like it. I went against simon at indianapolis but went with him all the way at toronto. Even with his great shape all those games took a toll on him and I believe had a factor in the kiefer match. But that is the past. Simon has played great on hard while soderling has played decent but nothing spectacular. 3 of his 4 on hard loses coming from djokovic, ferrer, and federer. Like gwyer mentioned. Soderling has a big serve but simon has showed he can handle players like that. Soderling leads h2h 2-1 but the h2h is split on hard and I believe simon has much improved since the last match. In which he just won half of his first serves and had 0 break chances. I look for that to turn around as soderling will not play that well this time around.

Simon is at a career high of 13 an will be my selection to take this match.Simon arrives in good confidence at the Olympics, winning Indianapolis an then reached is first Masters Series Semi-Finals in which he lost to (Kiefer)in a deciding T/Breaker.Soderling as a top class serve an in that department is up there with the best of them he served 41 Aces in is 3 matches in Cincinnati, but Simon has a great return on serve beating some other big players of late who also got a big serve the likes of (Cilic,Federer,Mahut,Querrey,an Tursunov). When these two last met it was over very quickley Soderling was top class on is first serve he won 22/25=88% points, but im willing to take a chance on Simon because i know is game as improved alot
