Del Potro broke back anyway at the first asking, and appears to want to be here competing, unlike Haas, Lopez, Verdasco. I think you're safe effort wise with Roddick, he never gives less than his best in small tournaments or even on clay. If he loses it's a different thing. Gicquel has his work cut out if he's going to upset, he's no Tipsarevic.

This is getting ridiculous. Too bad to be true. The trend tells me to put my whole bank on Gicquel tonight.

All the support is for the Argentine here and I'll add to that. Del Potro hasn't dropped a set for quite a few matches and is in the best form of his short career. His serve is massively improved and his groundstrokes are becoming more difficult and powerful. He hits big off both sides now due to the extra concentration on his backhand. Delic has performed very well in front of the American fans and came through a deciding set tie-breaker with Moya yesterday. He is also serving well giving few opportunities away cheaply. Del Potro has the quality, confidence and power to see this out in my opinion and everything considered, I'm predicting a 2-0 victory.

I agree with the comments below about this tournament being a tipsters graveyard. Del Boy was in fine form both on the serve and the return and was totally in control of his previous game. He seems to have taken to hard courts very well. Delic is on a great run but this should be as far as he gets. Could do with one of these bets on this tournament coming in. Here goes...

This tournament has so far been imo a very strange one. As lilboi wrote here: "...anyone can beat anyone...". I quite agree. In fact, the only one who seems to be "normal" is Juan Martin Del Potro. And the boy's record for the last couple of months ia just amazing. I hope the recycle doesn't pop-up in this match, because I'll follow most punters here. Good luck to us!

agree with hibzo. I was going to post that info but I see you have. In the form potro is in how can you go against him? Not much else to say. Just look at potro's past few months.

Juan Martin won his first career ATP tour title at the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, beating Richard Gasquet in straight sets in the final. Del Potro reached his second career ATP Tour final only one week later at the Austrian Open in Kitzbühel, where he beat local hope and sixth seed Jurgen Melzer 6–2, 6–1, in less than an hour, to claim his second title in two weeks. Really, the kid is in brilliant form and besides Fernando Gonzalez (until now), i see him as one of the very few future threats to Rafael Nadal on clay. Not much to add to it, Delic was able to defeat Moya as i said and placed a bet, but he is no match for the young argentine

Both matches they have competed have been close,so you would imagine this will be.However since his injury when playing Murray on clay, which was close and a bit fiesty to put it mildly,Del Potro has steadily improved and his current winning streak be it on clay will have improved his confidence no end.Not a fast court specialist Del Potro is learning to adapt his game and should dispose of Delic in 2 sets.

There we go, had a feeling it was done on ranking. Same with Schuettler then making late surge.

it was based on ranking on june 9, and at the time del potro's ranking was worse than any of those other players.
he should win here though.

On a serious note perhaps they chose Calleri over Del Potro because he's an experiences doubles player.

Yes but argentinian ranking if done by who is most likely to choke. In which case Calleri, Monaco, Nalbandian are much more highly ranked.

If it was done by ranking then Del porto is higher than all three, canas, monaco, and calleri.

If he was involved he would have a damn close call getting to Beijing in time for Sunday if he's in the final here, not to mention adjusting. I think it's done by ranking isn't it. For example Schuettler appealed against the German committee and is playing now. Calleri is playing for Argentina.

Does seem strange doesn't it but he will smash Delic anyway here. MOnaco has been injured but I suppose it would be unfair to leave Canas out at this stage of his career.

WOW, thats surprising that they didn't pick Del porto. I think he is playing much better than Canas or Monaco. rael, any idea why they would chose Canas/Monaco ahead of Del Porto? Or did he not want to go?

BennyBingo, in this tournament anyone can beat anyone really. So if you can get good value, go for it. Though I'm not touching this tournament at all. Too close to Olympics and motivation is just all over the place
