@johnyjohnywu : yeah definitely too high stakes ( over 1 K on each occasion ) but what are the odds of this happening again this year ?
This is just the most freaking tournament I have ever witnessed and quite frankly I am happy I had a good fu** tonight or else I would have been really pissed .
That`s a whole month`s pay down the drain though ...
Ah well , I guess that are all the signs of a very bad gambler ! ;-)

Take care there

Yeah my friend, don't forget Feliciano Lopez too!

I took a big beating this week too. I'm not cancelling my tennis account, but definitely taking a break.

Next time, just don't wager so much :) (Yeah I know, easier said then done)

Kingkoubek-you're spot on when it comes to betting on Safin, you never know who's going to turn up when he's playing, especially when he looses he cool, which he obviously did here.I've lost a small fortune on betting on him tonight, should've none better.

That`s it ! First Haas , then Verdasco and now Safin !!
Too much losses for this guy ... I`m cancelling every betting account I still have and am going to focus more on my ( luckily ) well paid day job .
Betting on tennis is beyond throwing the dice ... it`s RIDICULOUS .
Good luck to all of you who can make a profit out of it !

agree with FlyingFin, comeon guys this is safin we are talking about, just because he had a decent wimbledon notably beating djokovic doesnt make him a world beater - im afraid safin is past his best - he will blow hot and cold now until the day he retires mostly cold I believe.

Of course I have no proof and this is my personal, private point-of-view... After all strange chokes among WTA-girls during the last 2-3 months (especially in Wimbledon), I never bet on Kutznetsova, Sarapova or Dementieva. I am very careful with bets on Makarova and Petrova, and the Ukrainian girls.

In ATP I never (of course) bet on Davydenko and from now on never on Safin. I hope I'm wrong with the bad vibes I'm feeling about this issue.

Bah, all you guys do is complain. We all know Safin has two personalities, just like his sister. It's totally random who shows up on court. And all this talk about Moscow fixing this and that - get over you losses and look at the next match! P.S This is why I am a trader, not a gambler.

This has gone too far now!!!! If ATP doesn't act hard and without mercy towards players like Davydenko, Safin and the Russian WTA-girls, the international tennis will be dead in 10 years of time.

It doesn't matter how many excellent and clever analysers we have here in TennisInsight, when it's Moscow who decides the results.

Double fault on a break point. Great. Just Great Marat. What a great 2 times grand slam champion. Im sure he is a very close friend to Davydenko and his mates in Moscow. I wonder how many bets in Russia have been placed on Gremelmayr after Safin already won the first set? Hmmm a great question

When Denis Gremelmayr's odds was high enough... Then after playing really good... Safin "choked"! There are too many strange things happening in this tournament (and others). Tell me, who are the real sponsors behind this tournament? Some lads in Moscow?

schwarzy mate you dont need to post Safin to win after he is already 5-1 up
in the first set.
Besides that, Marat really is burning. Gremelmayr should not be a big test anyway, but still, he is showing signs of the old Marat

Like everyone else I see Safin winning comfortably. He is one of the top players who are taking this tournament seriously. Strange really because beforehand if there was one player in it that I would have expected maybe not to it would have definitely been Marat. Safin's power will be too difficult for Gremelmayr to keep defending as he stands too far back allowing for constant attack. I think a routine 2-0 is very much on the cards.

@hibzo33: Here's a vital tip. From what i can see in this tournament, if you're serve is on, it is going to be hard to track you down.

All favourites that have lost have had bad serving days (eg Verdasco had 10 DFs, Haas only hit 2 Aces etc) which their mediocre opponents have done the slow and steady turtle act.

Look for Safin, Fish and Roddick to advance easily.

PS: do u have d.carsons email?

It would be laughable to start talking who Marat is but anyway. Safin's game is based around his physical size and strength, which he uses to dominate his opponents with big and deep strokes. Although Safin is 6 ft 4 in tall, he has excellent footwork and footspeed on all surfaces (unlike other players of his height). Lack of consistency has been described as Safin's ultimate weakness but like catsy said, once Marat gets going, he can only get better and better and i think he will win Los Angeles

I think the value is in gremelmayr. Yea he was coming off a 8 game losing streak but has had nice victories this tournament except lopez which people think he fixed the game. He has showed he can compete with top tier players with nice runs at barcelona and estoril. Besides safin's nice run at wimblbeldon what has he showed? I do not see why all of you are jumping all over safin. I guess him and I see what is here.

Gremelmayr has done well to get to the Quarter Finals, but he hasn't really beat anyone because Fognini is poor and Lopez lost on purpose in my opinion. Marat on the other hand has proved in his previous matches that he actually wants to win this competition. Lopez was serving for the first set and was at 0-40 to break in the second set which I think he purposefully messed up. Marat won't do the same.
