verdasco doesn´t know the meaning of "easy"....and many posted before that: Easy win for Verdasco. Sorry mates but Verdasco is the weakest mental player on tour and thankx to him was a good day:):)

Well thanks to those who supported on the belief that Serra was better value and what a surprise he won.

And to those who called me ridiculous and a "nut" as travis put it well it just shows to show that sometimes its best to simply state what you think will happen and not slag of people just because they think different to you. And thanks for the 16 ACES I got for yesterday as a result.

Verdasco has done much better impression of a tennis player trying to win than Haas did last night. In the end though, was he really? I think in different circumstances he could have held that break advantage no problem.

Yeah, I liked his draw alot and so bet on him Sunday (b365). If he takes the tournament seriously he should reach the final. But to be honest with the way things are going in this tournament maybe we should expect a straight set loss to Stoppini :| Good value, but I'm not holding my breath lol....

Will he retire? Christ, my tip-rate(%) is sinking like a brick stone in the sea. All favorites want to lose. What a nice gang Moscow has called for!

Somehow I've managed to minimalise losses this week, but seriously...... this is all a bit surreal, every shortish fav (barring Fish)has lost(Reynolds, Lopez, Haas etc) or come very close to losing (Moya). I'm starting to think that Roddick might win this event by default.

Hope that Del Potro takes this tourny seriously -- as he's my firm outright pick at 9/1 :|

Suddenly Serra becomes the hardest player in the world to break, like Young did last night. I half expected a sleepy performance from Lopez, but if Verdasco loses this I'll wonder if anyone wants to be in this tournament.

i've personally lost confidence in Verdasco, i usually wouldnt hesitate to back him here large for an easy win but considering his form and opponent this evening leads me to avoid it instead - i was particularly impressed with serra's win over becker recently. Verdasco at 1.25-30 isnt worth the risk.

grebarton- that is the right way to think about tennis. You aren't picking winners as much as you are playing the odds. Serra is the play here.

i dont really agree grebarton... a value bet is one where the odds are inflated on a player who actually has a chance... this isnt one of those matches... if u really think ability wise that serra can win then ok go for it... but if ur just betting coz he's at big odds then i think thats the most ridiculous betting tactic ive ever heard..

I know where grebarton is coming from re: value.
If you think that Serra's odds are too high, then have a nibble.
Perfect scenario for a trade in-game.
Lost a wedge on Reynolds myself yesterday.
Had loads on at 1.43 and should have bailed at 1.20 but was busy and decided to let it ride - foolish.
Most of the money I've made is from backing value underdogs and trading off in-game.
Unless I'm unable to get access to lay off, it's very rarely I let bets ride out all the way lately.

I've had a bite of Verdasco @ 1.34 with Betfair.
Will probably lay my stake off at anything under 1.19/1.18 during the first set if it gets there.
Any profit is profit.

I hate backing Verdasco due to the amount of times he throws in a poor service game and finds himself 0-40 down. Even with that in mind I think he should beat Serra pretty easily. Providing Verdasco wants to play then he wins.

Any thoughts of a Serra victory is ridiculous in this match. I feel the fact Verdasco had a good win should allow him to go ahead further in this rournament.

Yep - EZ money here.

If anyone is serious about proper staking and bet placement you have to consider this.
Verdasco odds right now 1.28, £28 for every £100 before comission
Serra odds right now 4.4, £340 for every £100 before comission.
If you work it out Verdasco would have to win 12 times for each victory by Serra. Think about that for a minute...even if Serra isn't that good and Verdasco can be awesome...keep thinking about those numbers.
Seriously work it out Serra would have to win just 1 before Verdasco won 12 times to be more worthwhile.
You must see a point here especially when Serra's match and surface rating's are not as far apart as many matches. Anyone slightly agree with me?

Yes I understand the point you are making as I also think Verdasco will win BUT...
If theres no value then whats the point in the first place?
None, exactly. It should be a no value bet but consistently people back the favorite too often in relation to the true odds and all the bookmakers have known this for decades because everyone just goes for the favorite if in doubt but bet for bet, match by match over longer periods everyone who does so loses.
So my point is valid as an investment more than simply saying who will win for pride. Over time the majority of people who manage their staking plans accordingly make more from underdogs than no value like Verdasco 1.34

grebarton i know where you are coming from and at odds of $4 plus i would love a piece of Serra if i thought he had any chance of winning. However the fact is the Frog is better suited to clay courts, is not in very good form (where Verdasco is) and all in all you are wasting your money betting on Serra. Ferdasco is a lock, pile into him :-)

I base my insight on actually bettin and whether I would get value or not and I just cannot trust Verdasco at 1.29 Just not worth it considering you could have got Haas a day before the match at 1.34 and look what happened there.
So for the value of it I just think everyone has forced the price of Serra sky high and therefore worth a go. Serra is simply a closer match to Verdasco than the odds offer so the investor would go with Serra

straight sets here, miles apart in form - verdasco went down cheaply to lapentti but it must be remembered that lapentti was a surprise packet at cincy, they come along every now and then at a tournament and beat players they wouldnt usually beat, so i wouldnt take much from it. my bet is verdasco in 2.

No need for a big talk on this match, Verdasco will be too strong for Serra who is a very average player when it comes to playing against top players. Verdascos last loss was surprising but he does struggle in the higher tournaments and tends to play much better in normal atp tournaments. So for me i see an easy win here.
