It's ridiculous to dismiss betting on all non-masters or grandslam tournaments as a general rule........ sure be more careful, and consider players motivation more carefully, but you'd be a fool to rule it out. Value is value after all.

This week has just been freaky.

never bet on tournaments that arent masters series or grand slam as a general rule. this tournament is proof of this.

"Don't pick up the phone, Mardy. It can be a long distance from Moscow" the scared punter said.

im going to echo the thorghts of the Verdasco, Serra match here - again I have lost confidence in fish and have been impressed enough with the spadea game to just watch for form here instead - ok its not going to make me money by just watching but it will not lose me money either.

In my opinion ...and i dont think i wrong ...M. Fish is in great form and his preferate surface is Hard . He plays home in USA like Spadea but Mardy defeated very easy in fisrt tour while Spadea defeated very hard on S Grojean...who didnt play more this year . Like value Fish is over Spadea and i dont think so Fish will have big problems ...but it will be 2 difficult sets for him....:)

All the H2H matches between these two have been relatively close and this match looks like another 3 setter in the making. Fish ended a recent poor run with an easy R1 win over Falla, but I rate Vince's R1 victory over Grosjean much higher. Therefore I fancy Spadea to just edge this one in three.

Mardy should have far too much for Spadea who should be long time retired.

After Kunitsyn and Haas letting everyone down yesterday I can see a few more upsets but generally milder underdogs follow big upsets. Hence going for some value on Spadea to win. Don't forget how vacant Fish was playing Robredo the other week.
In fact I would even put a little on a 2-1 Spadea with odds of 4.9 as well.

h2h shows 4-2 Spadea but last 2 recent matches were won by Fish and both after loosing first set. This fact reveals imo Fish has found the way to beat a guy who used to win him and mentally is winning their battle. I was afraid about Fish phishically but after destroying Falla in first round i will support him to win the 3rd straight match against Vince

Fish was brutal in his dismantling of Falla, winning 85% of points behind the first ball and destroying the Colombian's serve breaking on 5 occasions. Spadea played a topsy-turvy encounter with the veteran Grosjean - after winning the first-set, the American was blown away at the beginning of the 2nd winning just 7 points in 5 games, but did claw his way back and had 2 chances to break back to 4-5 which could have seen an easier win. He steadied himself at the start of the third and never looked back, but the Frenchman won more points off his first serve and created more break opportunities which you sense Spadea could have been a little lucky. The h2h, as carson mentions, speaks 4-2 in favour of Vince but Fish came from a set down the last two occasions they met once on clay and the other on hardcourts. Both players lift a cog at this time of year and on this terrain, but Fish until yesterday was in fairly horrid form and Spadea will feel confident of exacting revenge. He has an understated serve that is always well-placed, and he is extremely consistent from the back of the court which can frustrate players into errors as players like Ginepri, Stepanek, Tursunov, Lopez and Haas all experienced last year. Spadea has a decent return of serve, and if he can make Fish play as many return balls as possible you'd fancy the old fella to win his fair share of points frmo the back of the court as he doesn't hit with as much power nor does he hit as flat (low-percentage) as Mardy. 3-set game either way.

Spadea leads the H2H 4-2 but Fish has beaten him the last 2 times they have met. Can't believe I'm actually doing this but I'm going to side with Fish. He seemed to be in good shape in the first round against Falla and he should win this if he plays to his strengths. Spadea came through against Grosjean earlier in 3 sets but has been poor all year really and Fish should have all the shots and power to get through.
