If he puts in a similar performance there is only one winner, but I am only going small because Ginepri is quite a half decent player when he turns up. |

Ginepri's 13-12 hardcourt record doesn't stand out, but Mathieu is only 14-11. The quality of Mathieu's losses has been much better: Nadal 3X, Tsonga, Roddick, Kiefer, Verdasco, Blake, and Murray. This compared to Ginepri's losses to Anderson, Spadea, Bogdanovic, Martin, Prpic, and Capdeville, most recently. He does have losses to Blake, Davydenko, Murray, and Wawrinka though. Despite the line movement, I'm still going with Mathieu. I think he's really a player on the rise, while Ginepri seems to be just an average player these days. |

He doesn't want to get embarrassed on his favorite surface AGAIN. He'd rather pull out of the tournament than play with an injury and getting blown away in another first round. |

If Ginepri is still injured, then he'll lose, if he isn't, on hardcourt he can beat PHM. Still unless someone can find out definitely whether or not Ginepri is still injured Ill be staying away |

It doesn't figure. Either he had the worst serving day of his life, or he was badly injured. Either scenario doesn't bode well for this match or anyone with a large bet on Ginepri. |

I cannot back Ginepri after his display against the ordinary Capdeville. Altough there were reports he was injured i still didnt like it. If he was really injured there then could be carried over into this tournament. On the other hand i really like Mathieu as a player and think that the hard courts suits his game. He will look to dominate the baseline rallys and come to the net when oppurtunities arise. So Mathieu here for me but not a big bet seeing the money pouring in for Ginepri. |

Ginepri, however, has struggled on the hard courts for some time and is definitely out of favour with a lot of punters after his lacklustre effort against Capdeville at Indianapolis where it was clear things were wrong. The American has also been bundled out in R1 on 4 previous occasions here (to Nestor, Kuerten, Kim and Murray last year), needless to say he is pitted up against an opponent who is a big improver on hard courts when compared to earlier days. The Frenchman is in some OK form at present with 3 losses to Marin Cilic in that bizarre sequence of events, but gets a reprieve from the Croat here and will have the match on his racket. He has the heavier serve, a superior backhand, better movement and a higher work ethic with Ginepri's only chance at even a sniff here being to pepper Paul-Henri's forehand side which can crack under pressure due to its imperfect technique. Mathieu is also much less erratic when it comes to errors, and especially given recent circumstances he will feel much more confident in the longer rallies than will Ginepri who really has taken a downward plight in recent years. Mathieu is by no means a certainty, but at the juicy value and a chance at getting back into the top 20 with a good performance this week, his motivation and momentum should prove too much for Robby. |

Mathieu has suffered loss after loss this year (usually to Cilic of late) but has a great chance to get back to winning ways here. The pair of them serve well but Mathieu is more consistent from the back. Just generally the better player as the rankings would suggest. Good price as stated by Bunsen. Ginepri 6/4 Mathieu 8/13. |

Ginepri won under 50% of service points against Capdeville in the 1st round of Indianappolis on monday and was virtually unable to hold serve --- stats actually got worse throughout the match (around 25% service points won by Ginepri in 2nd) suggesting that the rumoured shoulder injury was causing him more problems as the match wore on. Ginepri is quite clearly playing with an injury and if he turns up to play then this should be a straightfoward payday. I expect current odds of 1.64 to be closer to 1.3 before the off. |
