I am going to just say, everyone has gone for Wawa here, but i don't think this is a match that will be as easy as it may seem.. I will not be backing wawa here myself....

I would say Wawrinka should be able to beat Bolelli, especially on the faster hard court surface.

Wawrinka will be looking to excel in the rankings and as destroyer has pointed out can become as high as 6th. This will be the motivation that will see him thru

Bolelli has had a great breakthrough year but like Seppi has fallen off a bit in recent weeks. He is a clay courter and hasnt proven himself on the harder surfaces. While Wawrinka is the number 10 in the world and a fantastic player and has a habit for winning the early rounds in tournaments and then dropping off. He has a good record on hard courts and should account for Bolelli. But with a big fight for Bolelli.

I hope Stan wins this as he is far the more complete player,if only he could get his mental side up with his playing side.Simone has had a great season considering his game but if Stan is playing well it should be a one sided affair especially with his liking to faster courts and Simone's dislike to them.

Wawrinka has the better all round game and is in decent form where as Bolelli has dropped his form considerably and doesn't do that well on the quicker surfaces. Wawrinka, part of a multi.

My first post after becoming more interested in tennis following my increased interest in betting! From what I have seen Wawrinka seems to have hit form recently and I have been really impressed with him. Whilst I am not convinced about Bolelli.

as detailed in numerous posts below, wawrinka should continue his strong season and realistically beat bolelli in straight sets. perhaps not such a great thing as the writeups here suggest, but strong enough to have my $ on it.

Both players could probably have benefitted from more of a break before the hard court season starts so fatigue may play a part. Wawrinka hits the ball harder and flatter and on this surface that should make the difference.

After an incredible start to 2008 and despite the fact he hasn't lost all form, Simone Bolelli's upwards direction seems to be have taken the slighest of plateaus. The Italian baseliner finds this one of his toughest surfaces (24-25 all time) and is opposing Wawrinka who made a real mark this time last year with a QF in New Haven (d. Ancic, Monfils), a R16 at Flushing Meadows (d. Safin, Ginepri) and a final in Doha (d. Calleri, Ljubicic, l. to Murray in 3 sets), not to mention his wins over Berdych and Baghdatis at Indian Wells earlier in 08 before Djokovic won a tough but uninspiring slog in the QFs. The Swiss has the complete game with a decent serve, brilliant movement coupled with the soundest of defense, and a forceful artillery that is good enough to rival anyone at the top of the game. The players he has lost to on this surface in the past 2 years (Tursunov, Soderling, Fish, Nadal, Almagro, Mirnyi, Gonzalez, Ancic, Federer, Gicquel, Youzhny) would strongly suggest the way to get the better of Stan on this terrain is with big serving firepower and an aggressive and powerful groundstroke game, and given the Italian isn't really in this category the edge must be given to the Swiss who can lift to as high as 6 in the world with a good and lucky week in Toronto.

It's on the quicker surfaces that Bolelli is generally exposed. Wawrinka is more suited and adaptable to these courts. I can see quite a comfortable victory for Stan here.

wawrinka has been in awesome form lately with solid tournaments at barcelon, rome, wimbledon and losing in semi's at gstaad. Bolelli has only been 4-8 in the past year on hard surface.

Bolelli not playing to the same standard he was a couple of months ago, which is an immediate point against him, and I think that Wawrinka will have too much class for him overall. Bolelli 0-7 against top 10 this year, which proves my point.

Doubled Wawrinka with Ancic.

Bolleli shouldn't be able to match Wawrinka's solid all court game. In the last 12 months, Stan has won 62% of his matches on hard court and 67% clay. As a result, he's reached #9 in the world. I look for the Swiss #2 to do well in US Open series events this season.
