simply it is like when you know what your opponent can do and you play your stuff;) Radek has points t defend here and Lopez apart fromDubai great run is half or class below Radek simple

Radek looks forward to the North American hardcourt season. After winning L.A. this week last year, he suffered some tough losses to Roddick, Federer, Djokovic, and Ferrer. Feliciano is not in the same class as those players. That combined with Stepanek's 7-0 record vs. Lopez gives him a large edge.

agree with destroyer, no value here. 7-0 head to head suggests lopez doesn't like something about stephanek's game. but that said, lopez is built for hardcourt and faster surfaces. giving this game a wide berth

Stepanek fascinatingly leads the h2h series 7-0 with 4 of those wins coming on hard courts though the pair have not met in the past 2 years where it's fair to say that Lopez has improved at least on the consistency side of things. The serve-volleying Czech has suffered his fair share of health issues this year, but has played some good tennis without being too exceptional particularly deep into tournaments. He has not been cited since Wimbledon, and despite his semi-final appearance here last year has been somewhat troubled on the harder surface in recent times. Lopez, who has lost his past 4 here to some low ranked opposition, boasts a 27-23 record on the terrain in recent times but wins over Tursunov, Ferrer, Berdych, Davydenko, Safin and Ljubicic show just what he is capable of on his day. The lefty has lots of firepower - on serve and off the ground - though sometimes his patience does dessert him as is evidenced by losses this year already to the grinding types such as Vassallo, Bolelli, Minar, Nadal, Simon and Kiefer. That being said, the Spaniard does have winning or equal records against other serve-volleyers in Mahut (1-1), Reynolds (1-0), Henman (2-1), Guccione (2-0) and has beaten Karlovic 3 times. He is more than capable of the occasional flash of brilliance, also relying on momentum to carry him a long way in his matches/tournaments. Stepanek has the serve and some fantastic volleying abilities, but his forehand is very mediocre and this could usually be a target for Feliciano but because he's a lefty to be able to pepper the Stepanek forehand he would have to direct the ball down the line in what is lower percentage and higher risk play. I definitely believe Lopez has his best chance yet at knocking off Stepanek given the self-confidence he would have mustered from his Wimbledon QF exploits, but the mental barrier with the 0-7 h2h as well as Radek's 34-15 record against lefties makes me swerve away from my original pick.
