Youzhny is rough, Youzhny is tough. I like Andreas Seppi, but there has been too many injuries and his visit to Kitzbuehel was not a success. No, I think it will be Mikhail Youzhny's day today.

Youzhny on hardcourt has the advantage, though the odds aren't that appealing.

This is Youzhny's favorite time of the year and he is very good at pumping himself up during the game. He's a guy who keeps fighting till the end, unlike a guy like Gasquet who gives up easily. Even when Seppi is having a great game, Youzhny will find a way to win this one on his favorite surface.

Seppi in the bet of the night. Their last match was extremely close at the Australian Open and Youzhny is the most inconsistent player in the top 30. He makes far too many errors for the stable Seppi. Remember this when Seppi wins... (TAB SPORTSBET ODDS BELOW)

Seppi has had a bad run of late. At his best he can take Youzhny over the edge.

Youzhny made it to the 3rd round here last year before being knocked out by Davydenko. He will be needing to defend those points to avoid his ranking slipping, and will see this first round matchup as a prime oppurtunity to do just that.

Although Seppi has had a great year. He has been going down in recent times with the some bad loses and injuries halting him. Youzhny plays amazing on the hard courts it is definetly where he plays his best tennis with a 16-7 record on the hard courts in the past year, while the clay courter Seppi has a record of 7-9 and hasnt proven himself this year on hard courts while on clay has been amazing but down see him getting through on recent form and record on clay and past meetings with Youzhny.
16-7
7-9

Not been impressed with Seppi lately at all. Youzhny for me. Should win it quite comfortably.

The russian should prevail here. Bearing in mind the serving of Seppis last match and his composition at all i would never put a dime on him before this match has started. He maybe be hot for some rehabilitation but this match should come for him too early. In principle he has improved his gameplay on this surface since last year (see his match versus Djoko in Indian Wells) and i think he should have some chances here but the russian offers the more suited abilities to control him.

After a brilliant Hamburg tournament, Seppi has been found wanting and struggles by the usually ultra-consistent Italian to players like Meffert, Serra, Kamke and Sela would suggest all is not right. Andreas pulled out of Kitzbuhel with a groin injury, and interesting to note the last two times returning from injury he has lost. His hardcourt record is also not phenomenal - 5-5 this year and 4-9 at main draw TMS level - and he's up against an in-form Youzhny who performed well at the French and Wimbledon and should have beaten Garcia-Lopez imo at Gstaad. The Russian has a potent aggressive baseline game with his major weapon his brilliant single-handed backhand, but also gets enough cheap points on his own serve to pour the pressure on Seppi who is comparatively vulnerable in this department. The 15th seed has beaten Wawrinka, Grosjean, Rusedski and Nalbandian at this event, and he looks a solid pick when you look at Seppi's losses on hard court to the like-type baseline aggressors in Blake, Haase, Calleri, Gabashvili, Tipsarevic and Verdasco. The h2h should almost definitely read 3-0 after this event and hard to see anything but a repeat of the Aus Open result earlier in the year just easier.

I think looking at seppis most recent form it is clear that he is struggling physically, so Youzhny should destroy him in straight sets if seppi turns up that is

I'll be on Youzhny here. Seppi has actually had a far more impressive year than the Russian but you would have to think like usually is the case, he will start to improve at this time of the season. Both possess good serves, Youzhny is the more attacking of the two and will likely be doing most of the pressing. I love watching Mikhail Youzhny, this match is his for the taking. Youzhny 2/5 Seppi 5/2.

this is seppi's worst surface and has struggled all year on this surface. Youzhny's best surface and having a great showing at the austrailian open and having beat nadal in the finals of chennai at the end of last year. Youzhny should not have a problem against seppi on this surface and not to mention is 2-0 in h2h with the latest being this year on hard.
