Fish is playing like shit. Twice a break ahead in the 2nd set and wasted both of them. What a crappy player

I tend to leave easrly stages alone as really, the change in surface and continent is a huge concern to me and i like to watch the first round before blasting those darn bookies to kingdon come.

This is my only bet today and i will back Fish to come out on a surface that suits and beat Kiefer (who i do really appreciate and like as a player).

medium size bet here only.

Fish always seems to be far more comfortable on these types of faster courts, whereas Kiefers season starts comes to an end although ne has been playing well recently. If Mardy's game is on song and his serve is firing I feel he will have too many weapons for Kiefer although it may me close.

Kiefer seems to play at his best in Deutschland and Fish at his tops in Uncle Sam land. I think fish will prevail as Kiefer is not as powerful as mardy

Kiefer to win for me.Mardy Fish has never been able to fulfill the potential everyone keeps talking about.Kiefer has more stability and bigger carreer achievements. With the stakes as high as they are, Kiefer for me.

Interesting both injury prone buy both not bad on hard court, if Fish produces his Indian Wells form he'll be a danger so I'll give him the nod here.

hi destroyer do you think that this is one of those matches best left alone, best left to just see the form of both players - mardy's form is questionable and kiefer's condition is always a concern - just a thorght.

Kiefer won this match up some seven years ago but was an up-and-coming talent back then and Fish a very raw youngster planted outside the top 200. Both these boys, since that time, have had understated careers in relation to their obvious ability and, especially in the case of the German, are very much seasoned veterans now. Fish was hitting some straps at Queens club during the grass season before an ankle injury derailed his good form, and a subsequent Wimbledon loss to Gasquet was followed up by a shock loss as top seed first-up in Newport against the serve-volleyer Bopanna. In that tournament, the Americna did team up with buddy John Isner to capture the doubles title and mini-revenge against Rohan and his partner Al-Querishi, and if he can get back the form of the hard courts earlier this year will be a force. In Indian Wells, the big-serving Fish beat Davy, Hewitt, Nalbandian and an off-colour Federer before losing to Djoko in a 3-set finale, suffering a let-down and fatigue-filled loss to Clement at Miami just days later. Kiefer, a compotent baseliner and serve-volleyer but whom is sometimes found wanting in the movement department, boasts just a 3-4 record on this terrain in 2008 and aside from a semi-final run here in 2004 has generally struggled at this event. He withdrew from Gstaad with a foot injury to add to his career spate of bodily mishaps, not to mention unfavourable h2h records against other top line big-serving power hitters such as Roddick (0-5), Blake (0-3) and Berdych (0-4) with 6 of those losses coming on North American hardcourts. Fish will earn more cheaper points on serve, and though he hits flatter and with less margin for error, he should have enough firepower to have Kiefer out of position on enough occasions to prevail in a part of the world that he always plays better tennis than his ranking calls for.

Tip: The difference in Match Rating between two players represents the average number of service games that separate them in a set of tennis as predicted by the Insight Model. Lower Rating Handle values indicate that the predicted rating is more speculative and that the player’s ‘true’ form may be significantly different from the models statistical prediction.
